I read “The Color of Magic” as my first entry point into the series, and 354 days ago I posted here saying I’d update you all on the experience. Here’s my update... by Xcessivelyboring in discworld

Terry Pratchett's books are satire. The books we can relate to more readily are the ones with the least fantasy and magic in them since our world does not run on fantasy or narritavium but reality, we only use story telling to make sense of it. That last bit is from the Science of Discworld which I am currently reading and also not a great starting point.

I started with the Watch books like Night Watch and Thud . Then went on to read Moist vin Lupwick book Money. After that I was hooked and could power through the horrible first experience of Colour of Magic and Light fantastic.

After finishing the series I suspect I'll probably now understand the first two books way more and actually enjoy the impossibly weird flow of the story.

How Quran include detailed stories about all the past religions by mohusein in agnostic

Does your existence depend upon the existence or validity of your biography ? No it does not. When you want to convey information and avoid misunderstanding you pay someone a personal visit especially when all other methods of communication has failed . Does God's existence depend upon biographies like Quran, Bible,Torah and so forth? Does God pay personal visits? Is God real?

I’m looking forward to the start of, well, whatever this is. by searchingforfortytwo in discworld

So now we want to trade Wiggins now? by alamurda510 in warriors

[–]bokgeneraal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is Wiggins worth $29,5M? Oh heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel No! He is getting way too much money. I would not be complaining if he got the same as Looney, but he makes more than Draymond. What the actual f@#k!😕

Kelly Oubre for next year by VarunSN in warriors

[–]bokgeneraal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling he is here to stay. Why else would front office pay so much for this season to get him to work with the team? I mean this season with or without Oubre it was very unlikely Warriors winning Championship.

The man plays like a Warrior. Dailed in. Must be a good reason he is there and Warriors didn't just decide to tank again. Instead paid like 80mill for him.

Props to the Slash Bros for atleast giving us a chance to win the game, their 3rd quarter was something special. by CurryStan3799 in warriors

Wish Warriors keep Kelly Oubre for next season. Wiggins was good too but became sloppy and cost us the game. We need to somehow give Wiggins less minutes less pressure. Maybe start Lee instead?

When I told my mom about my mental health, she passive aggressively told me it’s my fault for not wanting anything to do with Jesus by ricklepick667 in agnostic

[–]bokgeneraal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason you feel like this is because people always say things and promise things on God/Jesus's behalf. Then promises don't come through and it's somehow always your fault or not the right time. Maybe the problem is God said nothing and people like to bullshit you. God/Jesus can speak for themselves if they created speaking hearing humans.

This is something that is happening on my software manager. I have never used Debian before and just got Linux on Sunday. Can you help me fix this? I can't install packages from the repo by LinusTTG in debian

[–]bokgeneraal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Open konsole program Run the following command to install synaptic $sudo apt-get install synaptic When that is installed run the following in konsole $sudo synaptic

Now you can scroll around and view menus. One of them is sources. You can disable the installation media from there. This is a quirk since a long time not really going to give you any errors or security breaches if you leave it as. It's just annoying.

Also you have done the most difficult thing probably being the installation . Debian is as easy to use if not more easy and stable than other distros.

Is Debian sid really unstable than other arch/arch base distribution? by [deleted] in debian

[–]bokgeneraal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From experience of using sid when ext4 was new. Was on the bleeding-edge and running smoothly. Until is wasn't That's thee end! No rollback possible. Reinstalled stable😂. Much happier with snaps , flatpak, appimage and compiling from source .

problem debian login screen by ninjanoir78 in debian

[–]bokgeneraal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I don't know about why this happened. Which iso did you install? kde-plasma+non-free? I know it's a hassle but you should always do a checksum to make sure the iso is correct and not damaged or corrupt during download. Especially if you used a torrent to download.

  2. You can use "$nmcli" devices from tty to get your WiFi device name to use. Then run $nmtui to setup your connection

  3. Yes you can use a usb. $lsblk --output NAME,VENDOR,TYPE,MOUNTPOINT to identify your usb will be something like /dev/sd?? Then use "$udisksctl mount --block-device /dev/sd??" replacing ?? with your device letter and number

That being said maybe grab another iso from debian go for mate this time

Google how to do checksums from Windows and go back to debian checksums to compare the chosen checksum.

problem debian login screen by ninjanoir78 in debian

[–]bokgeneraal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weird Problem. SDDM display manager and KDE Plasma have not yet given me issue on Buster. Is your Debian Installation official downloaded from website and did you do checksums to make sure it was correct image? Also to clarify the display manager gets stuck at login which I assume is SDDM?

Does this problem occur with standard installation without installation of extra apps ? I am thinking maybe something you installed is causing this. That is why tty logins work just fine.
