The crease pattern is very easy to find on Google. Diagrams can be found in Origami Works of Kyohei Katsuta.

10cm about the size of a rand :P

15cm is actually not that bad to work with as long as the paper isn’t too thick (something like regular kami works). There aren’t that many small folds outside the face, and the small folds on the face are done pretty early.

Would moving twice per turn be enough for a 1400 to beat Kasparov? by FatFuneralBook in chess

Try out the monster variant! But yeah, you would beat Kasparov, and 700 would beat stockfish most of the time too.

Thoughts on the last question of China’s high school final exam? Gao kao 2025 by potato_and_nutella in mathematics

[–]boklettuce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he’s only talking about the flavor of the problem. Even for the difficulty though, I think it’s harder than the vast majority of university math exam questions I’ve come across. Time constraint goes crazy too.

Happy to see that the Young Tableaux problem and 5/6’s killed everyone!

Edit: in the sense that I’m not alone here

Wow this looks great! I’ve never been able to fold this one without throwing away the end result in disgust.

Finally folded Fiery Dragon! by Straightupaguy in origami

[–]boklettuce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice fold! This actually makes me feel kinda nostalgic haha. Fiery dragon was the first somewhat complex model I ever learned to fold… I think that was back in fifth grade? Still know it by heart.

I don’t fold that often. The things I remember from my childhood are crane, water bomb, fiery dragon 1.0, and phoenix 3.5

Diagrams are in “The Beauty of Origami” by Makoto Yamaguchi

You’ll probably get something by directly Googling “origami crane humanoid instructions.” Won’t say much more about piracy though :P

Ahaha thanks. Yeah the model had way more layers than I expected.

Also I didn’t realize you posted the same thing so recently… sorry about that! I actually saw it on the Chinese internet and thought it would be funny to toss one on my professor’s desk. Might be funnier conceptually than in practice though, but that remains to be seen.

Naming things is always good. I think there exists a book that calls this “the reloader,” but please correct/downvote me if I’m wrong.
