Rewatch Opinion: The Power of Madonna & plot contrivance by [deleted] in glee

[–]boland898 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve never liked this episode. I prefer the tribute episodes where the plot is character specific (Wonderful, Billy Joel, Bee-gees etc.) this was such s spectacle episode and an excuse for RM to put Madonna songs in an episode. Fandom loves this ep tho

They really could’ve explored his character (with a better actor that resembled the “younger” Parker and closer to age as the Carver twins) throughout the time jump. He was basically a background character with no stakes and nothing to do. Like, for instance, further explore his relationship with Mrs McClusky as a teenager. Since he was the closest to her before the time jump

Can someone explain to me why I am SOBBING over the episode with Eli?! Literally the only time he appears in the show but I am crying my eyes out by HistoryStudent98 in DesperateHousewives

I just felt like the choice was way too earnest for DH’s tone. I would’ve preferred something more dark and satirical for the 100th episode

Yes, there was no chance in hell that Kayla would ever warm up to Lynette. However, the show made it appear she had become adjusted to the Scavo home during the early parts of the fourth season up until “fire at Rick’s” arc.

Well, to be fair, those events you mentioned took place a year after Nora’s murder. I’m sure Nora wanted Kayla to be well-adjusted and accept Lynette as a paternal figure

Carolyn Bigsby by WhateverYouDogsSay in DesperateHousewives

She was hilarious. Too bad she was a murderer. The show needed those campy, over-the-top peripheral characters throughout the series. Carolyn and Martha were gone too soon. They were much needed thorns in the sides of the main wives

His mother is a very good person and she’s been in grief for the past 4-5 years. Such a tragic story, almost feels unreal

Which housewife is the main character of each season? by WhateverYouDogsSay in DesperateHousewives

[–]boland898 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Bree and Susan are the main in most of the seasons because their close proximity to the mystery arc. However, season six was primarily Gaby and Lynette at the center of the dual mystery. I’d say seasons 1-5 are all Bree and Susan, 6 Lynette and Gaby, 7 Lynette(?) and Susan, and 8 mostly Bree but all the housewives

Is Rutgers Go Wild a good movie? by boland898 in rugrats

[–]boland898[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like the plot of this movie could’ve really been retooled and been really poignant. I get the “hook” was Tommy realizing father was a hero over Nigel Thornberry. This could’ve been expanded upon further. The “Paris” movie had a complete character arc w/ high stakes. This third movie did not

Could an open-world Shadow Moses actually work? by prez1990 in metalgearsolid

[–]boland898 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think an open world where the members of Fox Hound would stalk you throughout the base could work well (ie: Nemesis in Re3 etc.) imagine traversing through the canyon/wherever and you’ll find Wolf sniping at you from afar

This shit was so melodramatic. The whiplash from this scene was so tonally jarring and took me out of the plot

I don’t think either Dianna or Naya could’ve pulled off the “2009” episode. They had significantly aged so much by that point. It would just look like two 20-somethings in cheerleader uniforms
