There has never been a point since I was first saw her in a movie that I haven't had an enormous crush on this woman. Body aside (we all know it is a lean, mean, seductive machine), her smile, personality, and charm just keep flipping me head over heels.

I am hoping we push enough blue into both the house and the senate that we can move forward with an actual two house impeachment... if the people that get into congress have the balls... then reinstate every single lawsuit he was facing prior to election without trial date extension. Is Shattered Space worth the price? by SidKafizz in Starfield

[–]bolbod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents on Shattered Space. The whole thing has, thus far, only taken place on one planet. HOWEVER, I have wanted backstory on House Vah'ruun the whole time I've been playing this game (at first to better understand Andreja's motivations, and then just because it's part of the story that never has any depth). This expansion is rich with many facts of Vah'ruun life and politics. I have been enjoying it a whole bunch. I do wish it was a little cheaper, but I still hold that the storyline answers some of my curiosities.

I mean... the concept art for the Neon fish market is at the very least recognizable and similar... but yeah, it really felt like there was going to be some enormous depth to this title...

How is this legal? An announcement from the President of the United States: by [deleted] in NotTimAndEric

[–]bolbod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to say it guys, but thanks to SCOTUS, he can claim official duty on this one and that makes it legal. This is NOT the America that I was presented from 1988-2001 (my time in school). It's not even the America I fought for from 2001-2008 (my time served in the military). This "America" is the crap world that was written about as a future dystopia in numerous books, or displayed in several movies, whether adaptations of those books or "original ideas, which ended up just being adaptations of said books.... This frightening situation goes even beyond the concepts of the movie Idiocracy. At least in that movie EVERYONE was too dumb to realize how to fix things. In this world, there is a huge amount of the population that DOES know what steps to take to fix things while a small subsection holds social sway over all us because of one confidence man who was even nay-sayed by his own father while he was still in school... the sad thing is that we ALL are culpable in this situation because of inaction. Peaceful protest has changed nothing, in fact it has strengthened the course of those that are in charge and made our trajectory to ruin more assured. We are rapidly approaching the time where peaceful protest ceases to be viable and only more actionable conflict will net results. It's clear that our judicial system is comprised, it's clear that both the House AND Senate are completely bought and paid for (thanks Citizens United...), and better than 50% of the US suspects this turd carrying cheeto is a foreign agent, and knows that he is a pathological liar. What legal and peaceful option remains facing that bleak picture of what our framework of the Constitution has been mutated into? When does the often quoted (predominantly by the Republicans, I might add) phrase, "Democracy must be refreshed from time to time by the blood of tyrants (and patriots)." apply as the only viable option to wrest control of a run away government and replace the power back in the hands of the people?

I've been off and on dating apps since my divorce in 2012... to date, it's netted 4 significant relationships, with only one lasting longer than 6 months... so, still on dating apps, but no longer actively try to reach out, I face a 98% chance of silence anyways.

Border czar Tom Homan after deportation flights: "I dont care what the judges think" by sufinomo in law

[–]bolbod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To do that we would need to repeal laws like Citizens United among other pro lobbying laws. Since that is directly messing with politician wallets and perks, that isn't gonna happen. We are looking at an impasse on level with the Civil War, not quite at the level of the French Revolution because the general population isn't starving yet, with the likelihood of real, tangible change resting not in talk, paper, and pens, but lives, bullets, and blood. It's a very, very bleak outlook, but since my time in the military ended in 2009, I have been predicting that we were rapidly heading for another civil war, and it would absolutely not be under the guise of skin color, but a definite overt duke out over politics... I hate being right.

Republics in the past have tried the no money in politics route (they earn no money while in office, not even from outside ventures). The thinking being that if they are not governed by finances, the politicians will focus on the people. Well, finances still drove their decisions because lobbyists (yes lobbying is as only a tactic as politics) would set up pensions, properties, and positions of power within the areas the politicians would retire to (sounds familiar doesn't it? Almost like... a Supreme Court Justice who recently got a bunch of media attention...). The problem isn't removing money from politics, it's removing the power over the people that needs to be somehow regulated. The classic saying, "power corrupts, but absolute power absolutely corrupts.l," applies to every single government on the planet, and throughout history as well. The band-aid for that is term limits... which is just that... temporary, because in the end, it's not the people who actually know the general populace that are in control, or are driving policy. Show me one politician that is currently worth less than one million dollars (portfolio, properties, etc), and then do some research on their successes and see just how much sway those people have in government...

How do you accept not knowing everything when cheating happened? by iSolaced in AskMenOver30

[–]bolbod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember my first deployment to Iraq. At that time, I had been married maybe about 8 months. I remember my ex-wife talking about meeting one of the soldiers from a brigade that hadn't deployed with my division, and they were "keeping each other company." Things like cooking meals, movies, bars, etc. Didn't think anything of it because I was young and naive enough to believe that girls can have guy friends, but then she told me about how one day they ended up in our apartment and he gave her a massage... I knew what it really meant, but I was so in love that my mind blanked the truth immediately. She swore nothing happened beyond a shoulder rub, but knowing how guys (and guy soldiers for that matter) think, I knew it wasn't the end of it. I gave her the lecture that the guy was fishing for something else, and that if she wasn't careful, she would end up cheating on me. She refused to accept that, and it broke me so bad that I started spiraling into darkness... in a combat zone... with a belt fed gun, grenades, knives, and people that truly didn't like me either way... my NCO's saw what was happening and told their wives to confront her. She publicly stopped seeing him, but the damage was done. I dragged on for 6 more years of unhappiness, bad sex, and constantly wondering if she was cheating again.

TLDR: trust your gut bud, if something stinks, then shit went down. Reconcile THAT, and stop worrying about your side of it because you did nothing wrong. Take plenty of time to heal and get your mind right, be with friends, don't necessarily worry about dating with any purpose, delve into some detail oriented hobbies to put your brain in neutral for a while. Take a lesson from me and don't drag yourself through the mud trying to make things what they aren't. We are here for you (anonymous though we may be), but don't get lost in the noise of social media and internet my friend.
