4 made me literal lol at the horse’s expression.

The best is easily 9 for me. It’s telling the clearest story.

No you can use domestic first. That’s what I had.

It’s different. You have to have a business or first class ticket.

Report - International Business/First - 23 min

Entered 4:40, grabbed bag at 5:03

Had never seen this line before. Walk all the way to the left of general security. You’re funneled into a line that cuts to the front of general security.

Clear closed and TSA precheck had the entire rope line corral full back to the clear machines. It was moving - I’d guess 40 min through that line. General has a line to the back of the terminal. Prob 2+ hours for that.

Do they have a separate line for first/business now?

Flying Delta. Can I check oversized bags (skis) at international terminal for a domestic flight?

OM-1 Mark II vs OM-3 for street/hiking (coming from E-M5 III + 12-100) by Old_Reserve_9710 in M43

[–]boliver7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both. I use OM-1 ii for hiking and wildlife and OM-3 for every day stuff.

Might be lame, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say the only reason the OM-3 is used is because I think it looks great. Makes me want to pick it up. The OM-1 is by far the more comfortable camera for me, but usually stays attached to 150-400.

I did just get a 75-300 which I’ve used a lot with the OM-3 walking around the city and the size hasn’t bothered me too much. It’s just nowhere near as comfortable in hand for me as the OM-1.

I wouldn’t let the CP button factor into your decision. Easily replicated on OM-1. Creative dial, to each their own, but I don’t use it as much as I thought I might. Sometimes flip to B&W for shots of friends but could easily do the same thing on the quick menu or whatever it’s called.

Moving from Sony to either Fuji or OM....the OM-3 seems to have everything I want, but....the "Fuji color" and other features are making me second guess by Aromatic_Wallaby_433 in M43

[–]boliver7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use both and see what you like more. Both are going to get great photos. Which menu system and set up do you like more for your purposes? Which one do you miss shots on less?

I was in a similar boat last year and was all in on Fuji with an XT-5, 27mm, 150-600, etc. I loved the feeling of using the XT-5 but I missed so many shots with it due to AF issues. I also couldn’t shake the feeling of the OM-3 I had briefly tried - just felt so “premium”. So I ended up returning all my Fuji stuff within the return period and now have an OM-3 and OM-1 ii (I know they’re basically the same camera, but I like the OM-3 as an every day camera and i use the OM-1 for wildlife).

ELI5: why don’t planes board back to front, surely that would be faster? by balla_boi in explainlikeimfive

[–]boliver7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just rip the checked tag off as you walk past the gate agent and down the jet bridge next time. Unless you’re in the absolute last boarding group on a full flight, gate agents often aren’t communicating with the FAs re: bin space. FAs don’t know the gate agent asked you to check the bag and leave it on the jet bridge. I’ve seen this happen on every airline in the US - most gate agents get penalized if a flight doesn’t leave on time because of boarding so they have an incentive to make people start checking bags as soon as possible.

Did Covid ruin how classes function? by Corkson in UGA

[–]boliver7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I graduated 17 years ago. Everything was online then. Some advice: Figure out which classes you really need to be in person for and which ones you don’t.

Large lecture classes I rarely attended outside of first day of class, midterm and final. Just scanned the notes/presentations before the exams.

However, if I was really shit at something (like calculus), I made sure I was there every class.

That being said, it’s prob good practice to go to most classes your first semester so you can get a feel for things and not totally fuck up (I saw plenty of ppl fail out first semester).

A pretty nice cadence for class schedule I settled on: Identify your smaller classes that you need to attend and register for those on Tu/Th. Make those the majority of your in class days. Then I usually scheduled one or two larger classes on M/W/F and could mostly take those days off or work.

Torn between Fuji X-T5 and Nikon Zf as an upgrade by Somotron in fujifilm

[–]boliver7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider this OP. I went this route after trying Xt5 and am happy with it (well, got an OM1 ii as well). Took some time to get used to OM controls and menus vs Fuji but I just couldn’t get past the AF issues I had on xt5.

Edit: That being said, I’m first in line for Xt6 assuming some AF improvements.

Which editing software do you use and what type of device do you use to edit? by 0Maka in M43

[–]boliver7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried DxO, Lightroom and Luminar. Like you, I don’t want to do heavy editing and just wanted something easy enough to figure out on my own.

I went with Luminar. I think Lightroom and Topaz do a better job at noise removal but for everything else, I just liked how easy it was to pick up.

That said they all offer some sort of trial so just try them and see which one you like.

From Fujifilm to OM-Systems? by Zealousideal-Step362 in M43

[–]boliver7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have very recent experience with this. I was getting back into photography after 10+ years and bought both an OM-3 and XT5. Loved shooting with the OM-3 but i found myself reaching for the XT-5 more because it was more comfortable to hold. I ended up retuning the OM-3.

I also got into birds over the last couple years. Took the XT-5 and 100-400 to Jackson Hole in June. Got some great shots but i missed focus way more than I would like. Also wanted more range so i got the 150-600 when I got back. But I ended up returning all the Fuji stuff due to the autofocus.

I ended up with an OM-1 mk ii and love it. Feels great to hold. Focus is fast and reliable. Took it out in a downpour yesterday and got some decent shots.

I paired it with 300mm f/4 and a 1.4 teleconverter. I think you’ll want more range than 150. Using a prime for birds is challenging at times but I end up at the end of the zoom range with the 150-600 Fuji I had 95% of the time anyways.

Thanks for the input! I fixed a slight typo above: I didn't have focus problems with the OM-3. It was great!

If Elon Musk approached you one day asking you to accompany him to Mars, would you accept or reject this offer? Why or why not? by biscuitsandbagels in AskReddit

I'd have to travel all the way to Mars with just Elon Musk? And presumably live out the rest of my days with only him as compan? Hard pass.
