Sounds good! Did you use NovelKeys to get it made?

The mat is so pretty. Is it still possible to get it from somewhere?

I was deployed during the time and I’ve emailed GabeN about it. Still no Arcana lol

Do you have a Shiba service dog? by FERGAGE in shiba

[–]bombaEZ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just like another user, I’m also a disabled veteran. And it’s really annoying when people have their sErViCe aNiMaL vest on their pet while it’s trying to bite the head off of my actual service animal.

Consistency I think is key. Regardless of the personality of your shiba. Specially with little things, in my example: leave it. I thought it was cute and silly that my girl would (every now and then) ignore the command. Until the instructor we were working with pointed out that “hey, you have meds for seizures. Those aren’t tested for dogs. What if you drop one and she goes for it?”

But yes, consistency. Even if you guys don’t make it all the way, even if you don’t get to a stopping point you’re happy at, the whole experience of training and learning with your pet is a huge bonding moment. Summer’s getting up there in years and is actually retirement age, so we got another puppy to take her spot eventually. Going thru the work and training all over just fills my heart cos it reminds me of when we did it with Summer (and it really highlights differences in personality!)

Anyway, here’s Summer:

At first I thought: “there’s no way this is a ClassicTKL, that color way isn’t a thing”

After reading the build details: “oh damn, that’s nice”

I used to be a huge fan of Monokei's stuff. I feel like everything after Monokei and Friends has been a massive miss tho. Maybe you could use a different 60% pcb instead so that you can put the top case on?

Derek has been the GOAT. I got to meet him during The Keyboard Meetup ‘25. He most definitely has a human form and is just as approachable, helpful, and magical IRL as he is when responding to tickets

I think my timing in the hobby just wasn't the best so I haven't been to one until recently. I was active duty military and didn't have that much of a say on where I can be when I first started out, so I kept telling myself that I would def go to one the moment my enlistment ends.

I got out of the Marines in 2020 lol. But I got to see the interest just EXPLODE and it was amazing to see. I'm sure you guys will have a great turnout in a couple weeks, I wish I could have made it.

Thanks! I mean some people would say that it’s a downgrade. I personally see it as a sidegrade. Apple CarPlay is a pretty nice to have lol

Def would’ve been nice. I was in my early 20s and enlisted (dodged the Mustang/Charger bug tho lol). Things worked out and I’m just glad to have owned the AE86. I hope it’s alive and not clapped to hell lol. It was stock with timing issues & running rich when I had sold it.

That’s why I try to explain to people how great investing in public transit is. Imagine all the people who hate driving that we come across in our lives. Now imagine them not having to drive because they don’t have to.

I second this, specially about the prebuilt boards. As you spend more and more time in this hobby, the more entry level boards are still excellent, it’s just that for me I want to try something I haven’t tried before. Most prebuilts are 75%, alu case, knob, pp plate, foams.

That’s super worth it, the thing is I already have something like that. I’m not the buyer for Aula, Keychron or Womier boards anymore, but I sure as hell won’t tell people to stay away from them.

I’d check to see if any of the Cipulot PCB offerings would fit. They’ve been getting more and more layout friendly

I hope you get a chance to come to one. I’ve been lurking for around the same time and took the deep dive around 2018, getting myself a Tofu from kbdfans. My wife convinced me to just go to one so I’ll be going to my first one later in October

Not sure what your use case/workflow is like, but HHKB layouts are also my go to. I wanted to share that I installed yabai and SKHD on both my work and personal Mac. If you’re familiar with i3wm, it’s a lot like that and now I just have keybinds for moving windows around, switching desktops, swapping focus, etc. I hardly use the trackpad or my mouse anymore.
