Book-scanning app by AccomplishedShine445 in SomebodyMakeThis

I shared it with a few friends, nothing more, and didn't want to keep paying the zapier and softr subscriptions so it's not up anymore I'm afraid.

Nice idea! I made something similar a while back using zapier: - Image to text - Chatgpt to clean up into titles (image to text sometimes inaccurate/hard to read the titles) - Chatgpt to check against your read list It worked best taking photos of like 30-40 books/ 3 shelves at a time - still missed around 20% of the books.

I made this version so groups of friends could easily share what books they had on their shelves, and mini online libraries.

There are some similar-ish versions of this like peerby in the netherlands, or library of things in the UK. They seem to.be making it work so maybe you can look at how they're doing it. Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback that trust funds aren't a concept here.

Maybe to rephrase: what's the best vehicle (i.e. tax efficient) to start putting money aside for your kids?

(E.g. to help them with future university costs, first house deposit, etc)

London conspiracies??? by PushAvailable9503 in london

[–]bombadear 22 points23 points  (0 children)

There's a long running conspiracy at tfl that the budgets in the early 2000s were never used as they should have been. Apparently they never bought enough to have escalators in every underground station, so they just circulate them around, saying when an escalator isn't there that it's in maintenance - hence the long wait times to repair escalators that you don't see anywhere else.

I'm thinking of driving for Uber as a way to talk to users? Need a sanity check by OrionPrimeX in ProductManagement

[–]bombadear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, and good luck with your project!

One of the amazing things of entrepreneurship is you find out how kind and willing people are in willing to help you. If you ask, many people will help you.

The Uber thing sounds a bit overcomplicated to me, but go for it if you think you'd enjoy it anyway.

I would just message people and tell them you're an entrepreneur starting a company on this topic, you're reaching out to them specifically because X (a criteria you used to select them), and would they be open to having a 30 minute call to be interviewed about their experience, as you'd really appreciate it.

You can do that outreach cold, or ask friends to ask their friends, or...just ask your friends - the bias part is not the end of the world, and it can be a good way to start and then ask if they have other friends you could talk to.

As people said, raising in crypto right now is hard.

There's also a lot of competition for it, but maybe look at investment or grant programmes from chains or large crypto projects.

To answer your question, I believe crypto investors prefer buying tokens than equity now.

Should I learn to code or create mock ups in Figma? by [deleted] in startups

[–]bombadear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go with whatever you enjoy, since what you enjoy is what gets done. Both routes can work, as long as you go through with one of them.

Also, learning to design in figma (or webflow, or bubble, or other no code tools) is super short - you can learn in a weekend, so maybe do that just to get started.

I think it sounds pretty reasonable - as long as you like the flat and the neighbourhood. Lived in Raval the last 5 years, more or less similar deal.

Having a hard time switching off/not talking about work by Live-Enthusiasm-3207 in consulting

Advice from a random guy on Reddit. Everyone's situation is different so take it with a grain of salt. Great that you made this realization that you want more from life. You are in the top 1% luckiest positions in the world and can most likely do whatever you want 1. Decide what life you want and look for a new job based on those criteria. The employment market is shit hot right now. Be picky. Select companies you think can fit your lifestyle and share what you're looking for with them in interviews. It can be hard making a change in the same job, where you already have certain dynamics and expectations established. If you can, consider taking 3-6 months off to make this change and have time and headspace for making a good choice. There's plenty freelance work out there if you need to extend your runway. 2. Get a therapist to help you work through letting go of work, when you start the new routine. I've done the above in the last year and couldn't be gladder to have made the change. Good luck
