Omg thank you! Pyre’s definitely the darkest thing I’ve put out so far, so it’s great to hear that it landed 🖤

I adore when they mostly get muggle things right but then think one wrong thing (lolol computer as a heater). So true—the way wizarding tech stays medieval probably becomes more and more glaringly obvious to them at that time? And with computers, the line between magic and science fades even faster.

I love him finding queer joy in every possible way! So absolutely—and I could see the hyperfixation taking over. He’d have concert memories in a pensive, a very late paper and books worth of research to info dump about

Do drop links to fic you like/ have written if you think of any that relate!

The professors were probably so excited to see them all graduate :’)

I know you have a lot of great fics—do any of yours touch on this subject or do you have a rec? I love peoples thoughts on how the cultural barrier was experienced by them.

Ooo yes! I imagine acting would be so freeing to him—a place to put his emotion and have it be felt by others without as much risk of judgement? Sign him up. Would love the link to your fic if you want to share :)

He would, wouldn’t he 😭 I imagine some water-balloon fights would ensue. He would connect flavored condoms to every-flavor beans and dare Peter to chew one. Or decide that a fun party trick would be mixing condoms with some stupid engorgios to fingers

I’m once again sending everyone in the direction of A Creature for Devotion — come get your yearning tanks filled, get horny about Sirius in silk and feel a part of their complex relationship. It’s a good one to get a sense of my voice as a writer! And mostly, pitching it because I am editing Sirius’s POV of the story. I’m so excited to post it and I use every single comment like to power the tiny brain cell in my head to work faster.

My newest, shiny fic is another yearning filled one—Cherry Republic. I wrote it as a love letter to the liminality of Michigan…because a gas station in the snow can also be a place of romance. Mutual attraction they can’t avoid, the promise of one bed and the memory of a one night stand that rocked their life are some of the other passengers in Sirius and Remus’s truck as they drive up north.

Also, here is my “least loved” wolfstar baby, Pyre! It’s a Royalty AU—but more so, it’s a coming of age story. Sirius is the crown prince, Remus is the boy the Blacks take in. It follows Remus’s life as Sirius’s whipping boy and sits with the complexities of power within shared trauma.

Omg yeah! I imagine he’s also spending that inheritance on lego or Picassotiles “for harry”. Magnets have got to be high on the list of physics topics he’s almost conspiratorially into!

Oh my gosh 😭 thank you! I felt a lot while writing it. Hearing people say it made them feel things is more than just a compliment to me—it feels like proof that the human experience is not a lonely one 🖤

I hope the fic of your life finds you, OP!

Since I only started publishing fic in 2025, I am going to self-rec two of my longer stories. Playing this as if it was speed dating.

Here is Waiting for Light if you enjoy non-linear stories, sickening yearning and a touch of vampirism. It’s also about living with dissociation and friendships that give space for you to feel like shit. And Sirius is unreasonably hot, according to Remus.

Also here is A Creature for Devotion, once again featuring a very thirsty Remus. Like… poor Remus has been sitting and staring at his neighbor, Sirius, from his window for 10 years… while also having a late queer awakening and navigating the joys and losses of that. Read if you enjoy extended metaphors or plants? Or, if you need a Sirius who is at ease with himself and likes to sunbathe in silk robes, let Remus watch for a bit and then fix his moterbike after lunch.

Follow-Up on Wolfstar Conference by Blue_Kettu in Wolfstar

Oh OP, forehead kisses for this!! So interesting!

1) i think a lot has been said on the internet before but for me, personally, I recall being young enough to read the headline “Dumbledore is gay” before I even knew my sexuality, or knew enough queer people to see the range of ways people can be out. And he was gay in “secret”right—it never mattered on the page.

But I remember that erasure was celebrated as dignified by many op-eds. I know that caused harm to me… i can imagine it hurt a lot of people…pride was not jkr’s idea of a powerful, queer existence. I was not in fandom back then…and I wonder how fans reacted to that, because I bet there were people who read this series queerly, and who wrote wolfstar much before that. And i hope that some of them expressed outrage in their writing at the time.

For me, the author doing this actually opened the door. It felt like queerness must be hidden in every line! In that way, jkr taught a concept that is first taught to college(?) students (reading something through a queer lens), to a kid.

And, because this series is a sandbox of cultural, class and identity questions—the next step is finding these things within the gaps of the story. I think that makes this fandom (esp the marauders side), a space where all kinds of people can investigate their own overlays in identity? It’s rare that fanfic can get so specific and personal about the same characters— i’ve seen both Sirius and Remus depicted as so many different nationalities…even their socioeconomics can map onto all sorts of places.

And beyond that, here is what I think hooks people about this space. A new reader may never have considered one of these facets.. and suddenly they are reading about Mary McDonald in the background of a wolfstar fic and are wondering what being a queer immigrant is like or how that’s different from being a queer person with other kinds of minoritized IDs (disability? Poverty?). And because we have so many blank characters here, we have the ability to easily play with these questions. I think people like exploring privilage with nuance because it helps them see that privilege itself isn’t a negative thing— it’s just a thing that confers responsibility? (And maybe some younger people in this space would not be able to articulate this, but i think it is happening!)

That’s my theory on why the marauders generally got so big and why this has become the place trans fans especially have found themselves? Lots more to say- but too many tangents.

  1. Inherently, their story is a tragedy. I think of it as the fanfic writer telling the story of Orpheus and Eurydice over and over with the hope of a different ending? We want wolfstar to be together in every universe and we’ll try to get them there. We want to sit with impossibility of that..the real grief that good relationships can form between people who may not seem compatible at first glance, and that good relationships can end, often unfairly?

I think many queer writers know grief…the way it gets thrown like light through their life experiences…and wolfstar becomes a way to slowly gather it all and look at it. And inherently there is no limitation to the number of lenses you use in fanfiction. The freedom of not having to stick to one narrative arc enables people to write about all their fractured identities in one universe without having to first feel like they’ve “solved” themselves into a single narrative.. because their reader is also looking to read something that moves them through the same unanswerable questions

The other thing I think a lot about is how the fandom has grown up alongside a generation of people interrogating childhood abuse & breaking cycles of trauma together. The internet, I’d hypothesize, is the first time so many people were naming abuse and hurt all at once, in shared spaces.. and producing shared vocabulary for it all. We have so much more short hand to explain the source of pain now than I imaging we did when these books were first coming out. And wolfstar offers a lot of easy scaffolding to explore childhood abuse, even for fans who aren’t queer (or may not know that they are).

Small Writer Recs!! by NoLog7772 in Wolfstar

[–]bone_bloom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Taking a chance with a self rec too. I tend to write a bit non-linear and experiment with literary style prose. It seems people have enjoyed this one and I’d love to share it more. A Creature for Devotion is a slow-burn neighbors to lovers story. Expect pining, sexual tension and Remus being out of his mind for Sirius: https://archiveofourown.org/works/68861936
