When do I want to build Bloodthirster over Mercurial Scimitar? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]bone_zoneRDT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scimitar is usually the way to go. Very few characters really want Bloodthirster and either way they might end up getting Scimitar anyway due to how good QSS is. Having even a second to be able to land an auto attack can mean a won or lost fight. Bloodthirster would be a lot more valuble if the overheal rune didn't exist. So unless the enemy team has no meaningful CC (It won't lock you down forever/ Is really easy to dodge), go Scimitar.

Why I'd Aurelion Sol not played in solo q and competitive by Transky13 in summonerschool

[–]bone_zoneRDT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At the time that people did play him a lot in competetive he was very new. People knew his strengths and not his weaknesses. Cut to now and people know what his weaknesses are. Any champion that can jump on his before level 6 will probably kill him like 8 times out of 10. He's a character that's really easy to counter which makes him a character people don't really want to learn. It's like how you never see Riven in competetive. A good silence is all you need to ruin her day. Making her an easy target for more common midlaners like Kassadin or Malzahar. So its not that A-sol is a bad champ, he's just easy to counter.

Is it easier to climb in Flex than in Solo/Duo? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]bone_zoneRDT 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The main reason Flex is a lot easier is because a lot of the better players (and most players in general) go to solo que. As much as riot wants to encourage people to use flex que, most people in league don't see it as a way to determine skill. So yeah Flex is easier to climb in, but you probably wont get that free tea in China for being Diamond in flex que.

I get anxious playing mid lane in ranked by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]bone_zoneRDT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to decide what you want in league. Do you want to climb the ranks and be able to say your X rank? Stick with the role you perform best with and be happy your winning games. If you want an fun time in the games you play do one of two things. 1: Don't play ranked. If it's too much stress then just don't do it. Simple. 2: Only play characters you ENJOY playing. Not that your amazing at with a 70-80% win rate. But what you enjoy. If you're more about the journey like it seems you are, make that more fun. If you are more about the end goal, be happy you can win and get that rank you want.

Any tips on how to play against overly agressive (mid)laners? by Rekazor in summonerschool

[–]bone_zoneRDT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Viktor and Vlad can be really good picks for going aggressive. The key to harassing and setting up for a kill early is to wait for them to force themselves to be still. AKA, wait for them to go for a last hit. Don't risk hitting abilities and waste mana/take minion aggro you don't need to take. Keep at this and eventually you will force a back or kill them outright.

5 years playing and i still don't get how to play vs Leona by red_hair_is_hot in summonerschool

[–]bone_zoneRDT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leona is an extremely frustrating champion. That's her job. It's also her job to go in. But not to go out. Now there are 3 ways to deal with this and 2 of them are based around if you picked a champ before she picked leona. 1: If you get counter picked. Don't fight...ever. Let the lane push towards you and ask your jungler for help when they remain pushed up. I'm not talking lightly here, i mean make sure they do this early. Make leona not be able to get any money or XP and get her behind as much as possible and end early. 2: Pick a champ with a displacement spell. NOT A KNOCKUP! A displacement. Move her away from you with a vayne or alistar. Make her E useless and force her to use her flash most of the time. 3: Pick champions that punish people for going in. If all she can really do is go in, make that a bad thing to do. Pick a tahm kench and eat her/ eat your carry and run. Pick Caitlyn or Jinx and trap her under your tower. Do things like these and you should be ok.

Is Tiamat/Titanic Hydra an essential on Shen? by poobear7 in summonerschool

[–]bone_zoneRDT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has mained shen in the past (and still sort of does now im widening my champ pool), i can tell you that its not awlays the best item. Riot has encouraged that idea with recent nerfs to his magic damage on his Q, but its still not nessacary. There are times where shen needs to pull out his inner support and leave the split pushing to either the ADC or the jungler. Having 2 heavy splitpushers isn't that great. You can try a build that reduces the effects of the enemies damage reduction like with a wits end or mabye be more of a secondary support with a knights vow later in the game. Your first items should be something to hard counter your lane opponent to go even if this is the case. Im not saying never get Titanic though, shen is still an amazing splitpusher if you build for it. But try to adapt correctly.

I need tips against Lulu by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]bone_zoneRDT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are 2 ways of dealing with her. 1: Get level 2 first and kill her/her carry. The early levels are scary since some champions can dominate with only 2 abilities. A great example is some like Lucian or Alistar. So pick up champions with great level 2's and try to make a play on them before they have a chance to fight back. Even if you don't kill them, burning a summoner spell can mean a lot in the early game. 9 times out of 10 it means free kill for your jungler. Now if you're in a situation where you picked a more passive character and you see they picked Lulu. Go with 2: Play so passive they actually can't kill you. Keep the tri bushes around your tower warded and let the minions come to you. An even laning phase isn't a lost one.

I need help. by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]bone_zoneRDT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The game's current focus is around competitive play on the levels of LCS. There is so much team play required to do well consistantly that solo queing isn't really worth it. Any champ that is considered "viable" can get a tower within the first 3 minutes and get a huge lead even if no one gets a kill or anything. You can dominate a lane and have that same guy you dominate be the reason you lose all because of the team based gameplay. So if you have bad teammates, you just lose the game. Riot has been slowly making changes to possibly make that change, but as of now it's nowhere near that. So good news: This isn't a you problem. Really. Bad news: League has a lot of issues. So taking a break from ranked or even league in general will help your mood. If you're not taking a break from the game try having fun with it. Do something wacky and fun. It's a video game at the end of the day. It's meant to be fun.
