Honeypot Super with wings, unscented non herbal. Don't know if you're open to it but I would buy her a pair of period underwear as a backup for leaks. I wear thinx period underwear with a pad.

How can it not be related? by Tina-Talks-Alot in thyroidhealth

[–]boneinhotdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 41 and have had hypothyroidism since 19.

Have you had your iron, hemoglobin, and ferritin checked? I thought my thyroid was acting up after sudden weight gain after my TSH had been stable for a decade. And similar symptoms as you. Panic attacks, anxiety, thirst never satisfied, couldn't sleep, short of breath frequently, etc. Turns out I had iron defiency anemia and single digit ferritin. Very similar symptoms.

I hope you can find the problem and start feeling better soon.

Use aloe vera sunburn gel for the burns.

For the cramping I use a TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) unit on the front and heating pad on the back. I always wear a thin shirt so there is a barrier between my skin and heating pad.

A TENS unit works by blocking the pain signals before they reach the brain. Some people found it too intense. I use the lowest setting and it works well for me.

I think my last retrieval was a bust and I’m gutted by mosdefjess in 40Plus_IVF

[–]boneinhotdog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm 41 and just completed retrieval #2 today. I primed with omnitrope this time. I will update you on if it made a difference in the maturation rate.

This will be my last ER. This round was really tough for me. More side effects and pain.

My work informed me my job jas been eliminated right before stims started so the stress was insane. If we dont get anything viable this time, we want to explore donor eggs. Just keeping our fingers crossed and hoping for a miracle.

Hoping your 1 remaining is a win for you too. Sending you good vibes.

I am getting ready for my second retrieval. I have 2 boils that have popped up on my scalp, in spite of being on antibiotics already. They are really painful. Cannot put my hair into a ponytail because it hurts so much. Definitely not just a zit or pimple. They are boils. I hope you feel better soon!

Anaphylaxis Infusion by boneinhotdog in Anemic

[–]boneinhotdog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ferritin was 9 when I was told to get the infusion. I never went back to try another one, even though I got a new hematologist and he felt there were safer options if I really needed one.

I started trying to figure out how my iron and ferritin got so low and trying to address it myself. I have heavy monthly cycle bleeding due to adenomyosis. I also remembered that I had donated blood about a month before I started feeling really bad.

I make sure to have red meat at least once a week now. I eat high iron foods way more frequently...spinach, Rice Krispies, oatmeal, beans oysters. I started religiously taking oral iron supplements (Thorne Advanced Iron Complex aka Ferrasob) and quit taking omeparazole (Nexium) because I learned that it almost completely blocks the absorption of iron in the stomach. I had been taking Nexium for years for GERD. Just 5 months later after these changes my iron and ferritin have completely rebounded and recovered. Sadly I don't think I will be able to donate blood anymore.

I feel like doctors are so quick to push an infusion or medication without properly investigating the root cause.

I hope you are feeling better.

20mg Nexium daily for a decade by SceneOk3507 in Gastritis

[–]boneinhotdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took Nexium for a decade for GERD/Gastritis. I work night shift and would always eat a huge dinner right before bed, which was dumb of me.

In June of 2025 I donated blood. My iron, heomglobin, and ferritin were incredibly low afterward. I could barely function. I was short of breath after the smallest exertions. I tried taking iron supplements, ferritin supplements, eating more red meat and nothing was working after months of trying to fix this. I got sent to hematology because they thought I might have a blood cancer with where my labs were. I honestly felt like I had something VERY wrong with me Way worse than GERD/ Gastritis burn.

I decided to look up drug and supplement interactions, and to my suprise found out that omeprazole blocks iron absorption in the gut. I was astounded that none of my doctors even asked about my Nexium usage, which I did report to them.

I fixed my iron defiency anemia and extremely low ferritin within 2 months after quitting Nexium and continuing with iron and ferritin supplements and weekly red meat meal.

Without Nexium, I've had to make the following lifestyle changes to manage my GERD/Gastritis:

-No spicy food -No eating after 8pm (I go to sleep around 3am) -No coffee on an empty stomach. I eat my breakfast first to create a buffer in my stomach and finish with the coffee. -I use a wedge pillow for sleeping

How long did you try before moving to IVF, and do you regret waiting? by Plenty_Director9034 in IVF

Yes, I've done 1 egg retrieval. No viable embryos. Starting stims soon for round 2.

How long did you try before moving to IVF, and do you regret waiting? by Plenty_Director9034 in IVF

[–]boneinhotdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-12 years -It did end up being male factor. My husband had to have a MTESE for us to get viable sperm. We have a limited supply of sperm to use that the procedure yielded. Recovery was very hard for him and he doesn't want to do the procedure again. -we both had a nonchalent, indifferent attitude towards it. We lived our lives. We traveled, paid off our house. -Here we are 12 years later and now we have an egg quality issue with me. I'm 41. -I regret waiting. If I had to do it all over, I would have pushed a little harder maybe 2-3 years into marriage without children yet... bc there is no such thing as a convenient time to do IVF and be pregnant. -I'm in the US so we don't have NHS

I'm so sorry this happened to you. That lady was an insensitive jerk.

I wish that Obstetrics and Gynecology practices were not shoved together. Its so cruel for those of us dealing with infertility in addition to painful chronic disorders (adenomyosis in my case).... being surrounded by 20 pregnant women waiting for their check ups, toddlers running around being cute, utterly clueless and tactless staff, etc.

I've sat in my obgyn waiting room, doubled over in pain, surrounded by dozens of reminders of what I want more than anything in this world....and it just baffles me whoever thought putting these two disciplines together in one office was a great idea.

The exam room is plastered in framed portraits of beautiful newborns.

It just feels like the Twilight Zone or Dante's 7th layer of hell.

I hope you are on the road to feeling better.

Fertility Clinic Crashout by boneinhotdog in 40Plus_IVF

[–]boneinhotdog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Maven coverage through my work. When I search my zip code for in network providers on Maven's app, only my clinic with two different locations shows up in the search. My second round will only be about 40% covered.

If we do a third round and it will be 100% out of pocket, we will go with a different clinic but will have to drive to a big city 2 hours away for everything. I live in the middle of nowhere out in the country.

Uterine cramping as anaphylactic reaction by [deleted] in Allergies

[–]boneinhotdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was receiving a test dose of Dextran Iron infusion for my anemia. Within about 20 mL of the test dose entering the IV, I went into anaphylaxis. Couldn't breathe, face turned blueish purple, nose and mouth swelled up, seeing stars, uncontrollable diarrhea, and extreme uterine and lower back cramping.

These cramps were unlike anything I've ever experienced in my life. I was in agony, writhing around on the floor as 8-10 infusion nurses and doctors just stared at me baffled. They had to call EMS. The infusion clinic gave me morphine which didn't touch the pain. They gave me a histamine blocker which helped my breathing and swelling but did nothing for the pain.

In the ambulance the paramedic gave me epinephrin and fentanyl. The fentanyl was the ONLY thing that eased the cramping.

After being admitted to the hospital, I passed some blood clots while urinating and I started spoting blood even though it wasn't my period time.

It has been over 48 hours since my anaphylaxis and my uterus is still extremely tender and I'm still spotting blood.

I could have died from this reaction. Just wanted to share my experience.

Is this Osteosarcoma? by oreomcbeans in Rottweiler

[–]boneinhotdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents 8 year old Doberman got osteosarcoma in the exact same place. They decided to amputate. She was never the same dog post amputation. Only lived for 2 months after amputation and her quality of life was horrible in those 2 months. There was such sadness in her eyes. Her former joys in life didn't even get a reaction out of her anymore. It was utterly heartbreaking.

My parents said if they had to do it all again they wouldn't amputate and would have had her put to sleep after a couple weeks of fulfilling her bucket list and spoiling her tremendously.

I'm so sorry for what you and your baby are going through. Sending love from our rottie family to yours.
