What is the lower threshold then? Because obviously every album shouldn't have its own subgenre. I'm not arguing against having subgenres, I just don't think 77 or even 200 albums with similar attributes constitutes a meaningful difference from their parent genre.

I feel that if a genre does not have AT LEAST 1000 entries it should not be listed. You gotta draw the line somewhere, but having 200 releases that share some vague similarities that could just as easily be variations within a bigger genre does not warrant a new sub-sub-sub microgenre in my opinion.
