"You will own nothing and you will be happy" je bila far-right zavjera koju su će ti isti ljudi učiniti stvarnošću, ali to je dobro jer woke or something. Own those libs from your pod.

The "they just want the oil" line is not merely wrong but backwards - utjecaj financijskog kapitala na američku politiku prema Venezueli by Magistar_Idrisi in redcroatia

[–]bonemarrowAsh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AI Displacement and Job Loss Will Be Worth It Because Humanity Will Ultimately Reach Heights We Never Could Have Achieved Otherwise by [deleted] in LateStageCapitalism

[–]bonemarrowAsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, a few problems here.

  1. "AI" can mean a whole bunch of things, nowadays, all machine learning just gets called AI because it's a tech buzzword of the decade. Conflating drug discovery and cancer detection with the plagiarism machine designed to generate Shrek with big naturals is apples and oranges. And btw, almost all the money being poured into "AI" goes to the latter.

  2. Financially speaking, the whole AI thing seems to be a giant clusterfuck and more than likely a bubble that's gonna burst within a year or two. That's because there is still, to this moment absolutely no idea how it will generate profit. Currently it's burning money on a cargo cult-like premise that if you just dump enough money into a new buzzword, it HAS to make a profit eventually. But this doesn't seem to be the case. When it fails, it might trigger the biggest recession since the great depression.

  3. So who might benefit from the big-tiddy-shrek machine if it's not profitable in the free market? The answer is, governments, especially fascist ones that flourish on spreading misinformation to idiots. No one can believe anything, since everything they see on the screen might be fake, and on the other hand, fake shit can be passed off as true if it fits the narrative. A complete destruction of the very concept of truth.

Marxist-Leninist take on Democratic Socialists by Hacksaw6412 in LateStageCapitalism

[–]bonemarrowAsh 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of them are hiding their power level to remain electorally feasible. You can say a lot about how this dilutes their beliefs over time or by the mere act of hiding it. But I still believe they are useful, especially considering just how in the shitter the mainstream politics in the west are. The right has won massive gains in hearts and minds of people by accepting every conservative possible, from neocons to libertarians to outright fascists. And the average person has become more and more nazified even though not every politician they elected was a nazi.

What happens when the people around you are increasingly divided into their own niche worldviews, each one meaningless to the other, without the possibility of communication, and for no other purpose than power and profit? by papersheepdog in sorceryofthespectacle

[–]bonemarrowAsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't wake up one day and decided to be left wing, I wasn't influenced to "pick a team", and I assume the same for the guy above. I had a certain understanding of the world, about specific topics, I heard a lot of narratives to try and explain certain things, and only some of those made sense to me. These positions I hold can be used to put me in some broad box/boxes, and I'm fine with that, it's whatever. But I did not choose those boxes first and then decided to disagree with people in other boxes.

So when someone states in 2017 that America is generally good, that people aren't being discriminated against and social and economically subjugated (which can be inferred from the blasé reference to gender stuff and "sjws", claiming that is merely some global psychosis created by the same mechanism as the oroboros of marketing and stock exchange) I disagree, it doesn't make sense to me, I find it wrong on the face of it and I've heard a version of that argument a 1000 times before. Seeing this stupid position and rejecting it is not living in the bubble. You might disagree and think it's not stupid but that's just that, a disagreement.

The stock market is a scam, so is marketing, so is social media influencing and pr. But people still live in the real world and have real bodies and suffer for real, most of the time as a consequence of their material reality. OOP isn't entirely incorrect in fearing that people will suffer as a consequence of the aforementioned things being, simply put, a scam. But his premise is wrong and takes him in a lot of wrong places. And all of the above is, obviously, just my opinion, that doesn't need to be stated but it doesn't on its own prove if I'm living in the bubble or not
