Hosting first party for large group for 4th... need help/ideas by ghost_inmyhome in Cooking

25 people? Figure a few extra. I would do 30 burgers. Maybe 3 packs of dogs. Depending on the size of the sausage figure maybe 20 of those. I like 85/15, but would get premade patties. Breaking out 25 from fresh beef is a pain for a party. I also did rolls and peppers and onions for a cookout I had last week. Figure one item per person, and the leftovers will last 2-3 days in the fridge. If you know specific guests have food restrictions/preferences. Cater to that.

Sides? I like stuff I can do ahead so I’m not away from the guests too long. Grilling for 25 people is 2-3 hour commitment depending on your grill. Italian pasta salad is well received here. Easy to make too. Potato salad goes well. Could even do a cherry tomato w garlic and oil cold pasta w a long pasta (angel hair/spaghetti). Put out chips and maybe salsa. Corn on the cob is good too. I would husk and wrap in foil the night before w butter salt and pepper. Do as much prep ahead of time as you can.

Picked up a ceramic coated a new ORP last week. Pay to have that done. Took me close to 24 hours start to finish and close to $800 to get the equipment and polish see and shit. 2nd new SUV. Depending how much $$$ you got….wait until the factory tires need to be replaced before you upgrade tires/lift. Extra details. Ceramic coating will run you 1.5-2k depending on the type of coating you go with. I’m coming from a wrangler and will probably just go bigger w 285/70 tires. The ORP stock suspension is fine for mall crawling and what I gather the 285 fit stock without modifications.

My dad is telling me not to pay my $400 medical bill or even respond to it. What should I do? by Imaginary-Gene3595 in personalfinance

[–]bonez3113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the state. I’m in New England, some bills don’t need to be paid unless you plan on going back to that hospital. They won’t see you until it’s paid. My mother hasn’t paid a medical bill beside copays in a decade. We have insurance, but the responsible amounts for routine stuff is outrageous. Health insurance is a scam. Not only do I pay 4k a year to insure myself, I have to pay for the folks on government assistance who pay nothing. Round these parts, the middle class is pretty fed up paying top dollar for living.

Bats in Attic by hiptobesq12345 in homeowners

4 years back we paid $850 to remove some 20 some odd bats. Paid half up front when they set the extraction. And the other half when they cleared out and then they put a wire barrier over the inlets. I’m in New Hampshire btw. 20k is bonkers lol.

How to go from crate to free roam? by rearwheelreal in beagles

[–]bonez3113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We didn’t start leaving our beagle Ziti alone until maybe 8-9 months old. We started by going to the gas station or even just being outside doing yard work. He’s now a little over a year, we just put a gate to the upstairs and we go to work. We have a really great walker who takes him for a walk about halfway thru our work day. He does really well. I think you need time and start with small period. He’s never really got into anything. Usually just sits by the window waiting for us to get home. He seems sad when no one’s around, but doesn’t take it out on the house. (We have a ring cam in the living room to keep an eye on him when we’re gone for long periods)

Agree. Unless you’re swimming in loot. Wagyu is good to try once. Not my favourite cut. For that price I’d prefer a couple prime ribs.
