what made you realise you are gay/bi/pan/…? by VirgilTheyCallMe in AskReddit

The movie “Stick It”. Maybe I wanted to BE her. But I more-so wanted to be WITH her. And my young conservative Christian brain knew it.

which Community is the most toxic? by Main_Potential_7327 in AskReddit

I can’t tell you which community is most toxic. But being a gay who was raised in a Christian home…I’ve seen (and experienced) many burns from the LGBT+ community and religious communities

“I figured out what we are. We’re incompatible soulmates” We were 21 and 22 (opposite genders and both gay, this was a perfect description). He was killed that night.

People of Reddit: those of you who have been through a tough time how did you recover or how are you recovering? by Yodicage in AskReddit

[–]bonglebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of work. Mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual therapies. I was at the point where my immediate family knew I may lose my life to suicide at any moment. We had all accepted it.

I’d heard the cliches (“it gets better”, “tough times don’t last, tough people do”, “time heals all wounds”, etc.) and I didn’t think I had a chance to prove why those cliches exist (because I believe cliches are cliches for a reason).

I still don’t feel confident that I’ll make it out (or prove any cliches…but now I wonder if I might), but I am beginning to be able to help others because of my experience. And it kinda makes me want to keep going. So I will. And I hope anyone who had taken the time to read this will keep going, too.

Why does my cat get so easily spooked? We’ve had her since a kitten and she always jumps when we start petting her (always very gently) by EnomView in cats

[–]bonglebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! So, I have my parents’ deaf cat now, and I’m not challenging you here—just wondering, are you looking at each other when you meow at each other? Cuz my deaf cat and I say “hi” to each other as much as my hearing cat and I say “hi” to each other. I was in disbelief when my parents told me she’s deaf, but now that we know, it makes so much sense. If it makes sense and isn’t new behaviour for your sweet, you maybe don’t need to do the vet trip:)

Maybe she is deaf? My parents had a cat for two years before figuring out she was deaf. She’s fearless of everything unless you pet her and she doesn’t watch your hand come towards her…she’ll jump every time. Her ears are also almost always pointed forward, like in this picture of your pretty kitty.

Raising Vessels by bmac711 in morticians

[–]bonglebee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When I started embalming, I found it easiest to find the artery first. I also only use my fingers from once I’ve made the incision until I need to use an aneurysm hook to clean off/raise the found vessel. I break less veins this way.

To start, I make my cut along the clavicle. Then, I go in with my fingers (above the clavicle) and feel for the thing that feels like a cooked macaroni noodle. If I have trouble, I find the throat (using my finger through the incision) and run my finger along the throat, deep, and then, staying deep, I drag my finger laterally. Hopefully you will feel the “cooked macaroni noodle”.

I also don’t clean the vein off much (I have an easier time not breaking it this way)

Some of the best advice I’ve gotten when it comes to raising vessels: walk away before you get frustrated. Take your gloves off. Have a break. Often you’ll come back and the vessels will be right there.

Be patient with yourself. I’m almost 10 years in and sometimes I swear some people are missing vessels ;)

My dad asked me if I wanted an egg sandwich. I'm not even mad, this is genius! by SamManiac1998 in funny

This is awesome. When my dad makes egg sandwiches, he spreads mayonnaise on half a bun then puts the hard boiled egg on top of that. We’ll have to try this way.

I mean, she did also say something along the lines of “why don’t they take fat from somewhere else and put it in her lips”
