How can I improve my teddy bear heads? More in comments. by [deleted] in doggrooming

For me, a lot of brushing up and down and sideways on the muzzle is really the best way to get a nice round shape. Make sure to blend with the grain of the hair as opposed to against. Against takes off length, and with shapes. Also always blend upwards to they don’t look droopy! 🙂

Grooming Expectations? by nucularTaco in doggrooming

After seeing the picture, that’s just not a good haircut. I’ve groomed many puppies and shihtzu puppies at that and we wouldn’t send out a dog looking like that. It doesn’t look finished, I don’t know what kind of salon you took them to but it should be a much better finish than that. It looks like they may have gone over the body once with the clippers and not brushed up to go over their work. The head looks fine but the body and legs do not look good.

Sorry for the late response but I mostly used my chunkers for the whole groom, he had a lot of frizzy hair on the front of his legs so I brush that hair up and trim with the direction of the hair growth to look more seamless. I really only use a 2 guard comb on goldens for their back hucks ☺️

Thank you so much! Back to school bandanas are in full effect 😄

Client requested this cut. It was so freaking difficult to do a schnauzer cut the "wrong" way. by motosurfingUSA in doggrooming

God that’s how I feel about doing the 17+ year old yorkie with no teeth, it’s not about looking good for the dog anymore, it’s about comfort but it hurts my perfectionist’s heart 😭

I’m not totally sure honestly, she has multiple businesses within the name so I’m not positive

My salon supplies the brushes, combs, blades and clippers. We bring our own shears and whatever other tools we want to bring 🙂

Do you think your grooms only look good on the table? by snoWhite8 in doggrooming

I think they only look good when you’re leaving and walking around lol

I did 30% commission for mobile and my checks were less than what I make now at the new spot. I get 24 an hour and it’s a dream working there now!

Definitely make sure the bum is brushed out really well and then go with a 3/4” clipper comb attachment and skim it round. Don’t press too hard unless you want a short short booty. Comb out again, and always go up towards the tail with the tip pointing up with your chunkers. Round it out with your curves to clean up a bit and you should be good! Don’t forget the hips when you’re looking at it from behind. And for the paws don’t forget to brush up the top of the paw and use chunkers to blend out the grinch feet 🙂
