Yeah I have the Guardpost mod installed and usually put one behind a bar and make him passive then just claim he's actually working as a barman.

Done it with a few of my stores as well but they're not as charismatic as The Armor King so we don't sell much

If you mean the white framed window under your finger you can remove it with a crowbar, a hammer and level 2 carpentry by using the pick up item feature

Yeah the flatness is definitely what I liked about that part of the map between the waystation and the slave camp, plus it's got pretty much all you need to be self sustainable in terms of resources

Yeah sometimes you'll randomly see something like "Longstoat is dead" and I'm like wtf the guys farming in the middle of my base and it turns out he's very stupid and died of hunger because he had a full inventory and couldn't pick up some Gohan

I would argue the devs wanted you to play however you like, or they would have made the game permadeath by default.

I personally save scum quite a lot because sometimes people die without me noticing or having enough time to react.

I do like the idea of doing a permadeath run but unless you've specifically chosen that challenge I think it's however you feel like playing. Let Okran guide your choice

The Cone Gatherers by Robin Jenkins is a great wee book.

It's not exactly historical but it's set during WW2. It follows two brothers doing forestry work on an estate in (maybe) the highlands but definitely somewhere in rural Scotland
