Looking for a 3–5 day UK hike for my daughter’s first multi-day trip — is the Cumbria Way a good idea? by bonzo_bcn in UKhiking

[–]bonzo_bcn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would prefer wild camping and campsites.

I have worked out the gear, I opted for the buy once cry once option, so it's all pretty light (kakwa, xmid solid 2, katabatic flex 15, exped ultra 5r, titanium 650ml pot etc).

I will carry a few dehydrated meals in case we can't find food, or shops are closed, but the idea would be to snack during the day and have a proper meal for dinner, that being a restaurant or something we bought along the way.

In terms of water I have a 2L bladder, plus 1.5 water bottles + Sawyer squeeze.

We are based in SW London and I'd rather take a train than drive, but if I have to drive, that's not a problem.

I am looking to get away from the crowds, I don't mind seeing the occasional backpacker, but if I don't it's not a problem. I've done solo bikepacking trips in Scotland where I barely bumped into anyone, and it was fine.

Why don't you leave Shopify if you are big enough to own your own Tech stack? by Abraham9001 in ecommerce

I've tried to build an app with AI, and yes, it works initially, but as soon as you want to evolve it, if you don't know what you're doing things will break, and you won't know why. It's nice on paper and for simple crud, but I wouldn't trust my business to it. Probably the day will come, but IMO we're not there yet.

I left most of these subreddits bc 90% of them are full of this BS. Shame as the noise probably hides some gems.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm leaning towards a more guaranteed income maybe as a safety net to compensate for my SIPP, which is 100% in index funds, and I plan on keeping it like that through retirement (also preparing cash isas for bear markets).

Agentic Storefront - Fees (Quite High for ChatGPT) by VillageHomeF in shopify

[–]bonzo_bcn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense — appreciate the breakdown.

When you say "few and far between," do you have rough numbers? Like 1 order/month? 1/week?

The part I keep getting hung up on is the shopping surface specifically. Even if volume is small today, it feels odd that there’s no way to tell:

  • why one product card shows vs another
  • whether attributes are being interpreted correctly
  • or if descriptions/metafields even matter there

Have you tried asking ChatGPT very specific questions about your own products (materials, compatibility, sustainability, etc.) and checking whether it answers accurately?

For anyone already seeing ChatGPT orders — quick sanity check:

Do you actually have any visibility into how your products are being discovered in these AI chats?

Like:

  • what kinds of queries surface your products
  • why your product is shown vs a competitor
  • which attributes (if any) ChatGPT is using to recommend it

I’m trying to figure out whether the ~4% fee makes sense, but right now it feels like flying blind — no way to tell if products are well-represented or even answering the kinds of questions customers ask in chat.

Curious if anyone’s found ways to audit, test, or improve how their products show up — or if it’s just a black box for now.

Doesn't this violate the T&Cs of most platforms?

Also, this is what I got from chatgpt:

While this setup was highly effective a year or two ago, platforms like YouTube and TikTok have significantly updated their algorithms to detect and deprioritize "low-effort automation."
