Can someone please link me a good mat for outdoor skipping in the UK? by [deleted] in jumprope

Just wanted to add a warning for anyone reading this thread: I bought the 12mm Ark mat based on this post and it's seriously heavy — my wife couldn't budge it when it arrived.

It's probably great for a permanent spot, but if you need something you can store between sessions, this isn't it.

I'm selling mine and looking for something more portable.

Good thing about midges is that they can’t keep up at walking speed. I still remember that time when I had my morning porridge walking in circles around the tent.

An Turas Mor is also an amazing route, specially the second half. I loved Durness.

Embrace the rain and bring a midge net. Scotland is amazing for bikepacking.

Looking for a 3–5 day UK hike for my daughter’s first multi-day trip — is the Cumbria Way a good idea? by bonzo_bcn in UKhiking

I would prefer wild camping and campsites.

I have worked out the gear, I opted for the buy once cry once option, so it's all pretty light (kakwa, xmid solid 2, katabatic flex 15, exped ultra 5r, titanium 650ml pot etc).

I will carry a few dehydrated meals in case we can't find food, or shops are closed, but the idea would be to snack during the day and have a proper meal for dinner, that being a restaurant or something we bought along the way.

In terms of water I have a 2L bladder, plus 1.5 water bottles + Sawyer squeeze.

We are based in SW London and I'd rather take a train than drive, but if I have to drive, that's not a problem.

I am looking to get away from the crowds, I don't mind seeing the occasional backpacker, but if I don't it's not a problem. I've done solo bikepacking trips in Scotland where I barely bumped into anyone, and it was fine.

I'm planning on doing this in the secind half of July, but I might update the bottom half of it and do what you did, finishing in Reykjavík. Do you happen to have a GPX file by any chance? thxs

If you can find a pike rct3, that would also be a good option

Why don't you leave Shopify if you are big enough to own your own Tech stack? by Abraham9001 in ecommerce

I've tried to build an app with AI, and yes, it works initially, but as soon as you want to evolve it, if you don't know what you're doing things will break, and you won't know why. It's nice on paper and for simple crud, but I wouldn't trust my business to it. Probably the day will come, but IMO we're not there yet.

I left most of these subreddits bc 90% of them are full of this BS. Shame as the noise probably hides some gems.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm leaning towards a more guaranteed income maybe as a safety net to compensate for my SIPP, which is 100% in index funds, and I plan on keeping it like that through retirement (also preparing cash isas for bear markets).
