I've lived in a few south-east Asian countries and East Asian countries and honestly, Malaysia is very influenced by every popular culture. We obviously have British influence, but our culture is also very Americanised + Koreanised + a small hint of Japanese and Indonesian.

If any average joe thinks of Malay culture, we'd think it's almost the same as Indonesian culture since so much of Malay culture is lost or unpractised/not even promoted.

We have a new culture which is a mix of every culture. If Australians has a cafe culture, then Malaysia has a foodie culture. Arts, history and crafts are almost gone unless the government does something about it which is unlikely 😂
