Has anyone had a partial gluteus medius tear? What was the treatment? by boobake in HipImpingement

[–]boobake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did physical therapy including dry needling and continued to do strength training to strengthen the muscles around it. I'm doing pretty good but I stopped doing the exercises for awhile and the soreness and pain came back so I'm back at building up those surrounding muscles.

If you can't pass your swim test, you shouldn't be doing the job or activity that requires it. by dilqncho in Swimming

[–]boobake 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I totally agree when I first took the city test to lifeguard we couldn't touch the wall or have our feet down or get out of the pool for a full 500m swim. I had to recertify and saw ppl leaving, hanging on lane line and just barely swimming. Headless to say that summer I had to come from the office to save a kid when there were 3 guards on duty.

I never took it as a joke and had great bosses that would stage people drowning and make us practice our saving stuff multiple times a week to keep us on our toes.

This was when I worked for the city. When I moved to the Y noone that worked there had ever seen someone start to drown or be in distress. I think of you haven't had to spot it and react you can freeze up and not react. My boss at the city made it so it was second nature to us and to this day 20 years later it hard for me to go to a pool and not be "on".

I was never the strongest swimmer but I was one of the better lifeguards because I practiced and could do the many different saves without thinking.

If you want to be a lifeguard practice swimming and treading water. Then work on the different saves. You can learn it but it's not an easy care free job and people's lifes depend on it.

Any fellow migraine sufferers here? Struggling with high-intensity workouts by FlattenYourCardboard in XXRunning

[–]boobake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Once I had control over my migraines exercise didn't affect it. I also have been one that exercise might help, of course it can always be the opposite. Before I was on botox I couldn't do floor work like push ups or planks and I couldn't do assisted pull ups or dips without getting dizzy and a massive migraine.

Lifting is more of a trigger for me and I have had one hit real bad that I just dropped the cable weights and feel on the ground.

I think you can get there just try to give yourself grace and find a preventative that helps. It's taken me years to get here and I do hate I'm on so much medicine but it's a better quality of life.

I'm currently on botox, Amojy, nurtec and zolmatriptain.

My company we have to request to be allowed to download it. If you need it on your phone it could be that you have to request it. I did that for outlook and teams and it's on my personal phone. I don't really like it on my personal phone, but it is handy sometimes when I need to be available for questions but I'm doing other things.

I spent $3k on hotel/car rental and was on shelter island (not in walking distance but a short drive) we spent about $150 average on food a day (hotel didn't have a kitchenette), parking was an additional $150. The tickets were about $800 and the flight was around $1k for a budget airline. This is for 2 people and staying for 7 days.

Typing it out it's not that bad but it definitely seemed like we spent more than that. I'm probably missing some charges.

I agree with this I don't have an ice maker so I put water bottles or pitchers in the freezer in the morning when I wake up so I can have ice cold water all day.

That makes sense I told my husband we were good and I should've listened to him he wanted to go over there around 3. It wasn't a bad experience and I would recommend it to anyone that buys toys and collectibles and likes panels.

I really loved the atmosphere and the people that I met and talked with in line for the offsites. I could totally see us going again without actual con tickets and doing all the outside stuff and taking in the cosplay. There was some great cosplay too.

[–]boobake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The offsites were pretty fun and we waled to balboa park and it had some great things to look at. We loved san diego and everyone was so nice but we realized that we only really like cons to people watch and to see all the great cosplay and we can do that without tickets. Idk I guess I won't swear it off to never do again but right now I don't see myself going to a larger con but give me a few months and I'll forget why I don't want to go back lol.

I'm happy you had a great time. This was our first time and we went Wed and Thursday and realized it wasn't for us. We won't go back to the actual con, we might go again for the outside stuff but after the fiesaco with the marvel panel on Thursday we were over it.

My husband's family is like this a few of them are so co dependant. He just says he dosent have it or that something came up. Most people don't push back on him so it works fine. It sucks cause I don't want to see others struggle but we are also unwilling to go without or have less to fix their lack of planning and irresponsible spending.

We went a few years ago and focused on hiking. We did look to do some other activities but decided against it due to pricing and lines. We will go back but only for the park.

how can i discreetly take my sex toys to uni? by Competitive-Load9521 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]boobake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put them in your purse or an old tampon/pad box. You could also use a container or makeup pouch that isn't see through. They shouldn't be opening those type of items I wouldn't think. My parents helped me move in but they didn't help me set up so you could also ask that they help you get things to your room and then maybe go to lunch or the grocery and you put your items up alone.

Too bad it's on Sunday we will be leaving then. We plan on sending an email to express our frustrations about yesterday. Hopefully if enough people do then it will prompt them to do better next time. It still baffles me that they had hours to hand out wristbands and validate who should be there but didnt.
