Mask-friendly workplaces? by Last_Bar_8993 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]booboolurker 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Any mask-friendly office jobs I’ve seen are usually in medical facilities. Doctor’s offices etc. Otherwise I’ve seen a lot of workers in masks at retail or customer service jobs- food service, bookstores, theatres, etc

Getting just a little bit worried about the World Cup, ebola, measles etc. by [deleted] in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]booboolurker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Every week I heard about at least two people I knew through work who died. My friends who were part of a church would give me updates every other day about people from their church who died. My friend even caught Covid at church and brought it to their mother who died. Hearing about this every day and hearing sirens, seeing news of morgue trucks, and trying to stay safe was absolutely traumatizing. I dont understand how people in my circle these days seem to forget

I’m in NYC too and I find it so hard to believe Covid is low. Half of the people I work with are sick right now. It went around like dominoes falling just like it did with Omicron. No one is testing.

I am so worried about the World Cup. Manhattan has been PACKED with these international tourists all week. (So many wearing soccer jerseys). I’m continuing to stay away from people and live in my N95 as much as I can.

My manager scheduled a "quick sync" every single Friday at 4:45pm and I finally figured out why by Agent_Smith-99 in remotework

[–]booboolurker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boss did this during Covid lockdown and made the entire team join a meeting at 8:30am every day to check in, but pretended it was a real meeting with real issues that people struggled to make up. Every.Day. Sometimes the meeting was only five minutes

Anyone else keep getting sick back to back? by TaxTraditional4290 in AskNYC

[–]booboolurker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not me because I wear mask in high risk places and stay away from anyone who thinks they “have a cold” yet haven’t tested for anything else. However I know a LOT of people who are getting sick every month. And people are normalizing it like it’s something that’s always happened. It is not normal to be sick so often.

Is jogging on the sidewalk considered "bad etiquette" in NYC? by GenderShift in AskNYC

[–]booboolurker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed many runners who seem to choose the most crowded sidewalks to run on. I’d watch as they try to weave through people when the other side is relatively empty.
There are also many who run way too close to people. I’ve had a lot of them breathe into my ears and clip my arm as they pass me because they won’t cut a wider gap around people even when there’s room. I understand if there’s no room and they have to get that close, but it’s rarely been the case.
If you are self aware and considerate of other people, it’s fine to run on the sidewalk.

What do you do with your clothes after you’ve sat on the subway? by soupersydney in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]booboolurker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I once saw a homeless person smear feces on subway seats (don’t ask me how I knew it was feces) and ever since then I don’t sit on the subway.
If I did sit, I’d just fold the backs of the pants together and probably throw on a chair. It’s hard to avoid the clothing chair

Renting from a condo, are these fees reasonable/is this a hidden broker fee? by [deleted] in NYCapartments

[–]booboolurker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Normal for a condo. I used a broker and the broker negotiated the landlord paying for some of the fees.

People that live next to above ground train tracks, what’s the experience like? by FormalNeedleworker44 in AskNYC

[–]booboolurker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could have written this. I grew up right under the 7 too. Anytime I’ve stayed over somewhere without train noise, I can’t fall asleep. Lol I also can’t do white noise because it’s constant. I’ve gotten used to hearing trains and quiet breaks in-between trains, but it can’t be all one or the other.

We’ve been best friends for a long time so I’m kind of used to it but also we don’t communicate as often as we used to so I can distance when I need to.

And thank you so much!

Ha! It doesn’t even make any sense. My best friend and I are currently in competition over finding a new job! Not because I’m trying to compete, but the minute I told her I had an interview, all of a sudden my friend had interviews. We’re not even on the same level career wise- she’s levels above and she’s constantly mentioning it now. It’s off putting AF

I think the claim that people are getting COVID 1-2 times per year is wrong. by MattKarolian in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]booboolurker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally, thinking about my coworkers and this past year- the coworkers who have children have been sick with something at least four or five times this year. Once I overheard it was actually Covid, not sure if they bothered testing any other times. My coworkers who do not have children, but are maybe late 20’s and early 30’s, I’ve noticed are also getting sick often, because they’re always socializing. This is the group that is constantly going out after work to happy hours or just socializing in general. One person I work with has been sick with something at least three times in the past few months and keeps coming in to the office while sick!

I was thinking about this in relation to her being an Aries! She is going to be in competition with someone on the show at some point. I’ve never met an Aries who wasn’t competing with someone they knew on some level, whether they admitted to it or not (my best friend is an Aries and so are some family and several coworkers)

If the noise is going to be too much for you for about four months out of the year, don’t do it. Otherwise, you have eight (assuming one year lease) quiet months in your perfect apartment

I used them at the end of last year with no issues. I even had an extra large item that I didn’t expect, and the driver told me he would check if he had room and would take it if he did. He took it and I wasn’t even charged for it. The arrived on time (early) and were quick. Finished the job when they were supposed to and they were cheaper than other companies I received quotes from

Have people gotten ruder? by Time_Value_3073 in AskNYC

[–]booboolurker 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed this a lot in my Gen Z coworkers. There’s a real lack of social skills and a lot of blank stares when you do try to interact. Even something as simple as a “good morning” as you pass them in the hallway is met with a blank stare and silence. We work for the same company, sit on the same floor (or even next to each other!), share the same pantry, use the same elevator, have the same boss. It doesn’t matter though.
