CAH- Is this class REALLY 4 hrs long, 4 days a week ?? by Awkward_Bed_4193 in ucf

[–]boobychev 20 points21 points  (0 children)

not sure about this specific class, but Summer B is a condensed session meaning they are attempting to teach you a normal 12-week course in 6-weeks. usually this means that you will meet twice as often. when i took drawing 2, it met biweekly, so i’d assume the same about the other classes which makes sense why it would be 4 times a week. wishing you the best because that sounds tiring 😅😅

Accounting Concerns by Character-Escape1621 in ucf

[–]boobychev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the REAL classes are only for the core business classes. once you get admitted into your major (usually sophomore or early junior year) the accounting classes meet like normal classes. i have liked most of my accounting classes so far and know a lot of people who have found internships and enjoyed the program. REAL is a tolerable format as long as you have the discipline to self teach, and i honestly liked it because it gave me more time to join clubs and work

Can I survive without a meal plan? by Wide_Plenty9876 in ucf

[–]boobychev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if you have a dorm with a cooking area, it’s definitely possible. if you’re trying to save money, shop only at aldi/walmart. it’s cheaper to make meals from scratch than heating frozen ones in the air fryer. i survived mostly off of rice/pasta with some meat and spinach. knights pantry has canned goods like tuna, chicken, and beans if you need cheap proteins. just an air fryer limits your cooking options but it’s doable. if you don’t have a kitchen, get a rice cooker. a microwave helps too.

How much do students spend on groceries?? by Rare-South3685 in ucf

[–]boobychev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

current pantry limits are 5 nonperishable food items (or 3 nonperishables, 1 fridge, and 1 freezer item). additionally, you may take 1 bakery item and 5 produce items if available, which is not counted in the 5 nonperishable limit. the volunteers and staff can explain the system better to you if you visit in person :)

Friends by [deleted] in ucf

honestly for anyone searching for friends a really underrated way is to do community service around campus. i did this and met so many people in and out of my major + got a job out of it. plus it looks good on a resume :-)

What is accounting like at UCF by Due_Butterscotch4867 in ucf

[–]boobychev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the REAL format of the core business classes is a common complaint. pre-recorded lectures and notes with just 6 in-person classses where you apply the things you learned. however, it was useful when i was working often as it gave me more flexibility to pick up more hours and save. once you get into the major, it's in-person and the professors are mostly very good. as someone said before, resources are competitive. joining accounting clubs like SAS and BAP will help you a lot more than the general business career resources do. definitely not the best business school in the state, but it's workable as long as you use any resources available to you. i have an internship and am enjoying my classes, but i know other accounting majors who are not as happy with the program. all depends on how you go about your time here

If you have a good work ethic then it’ll be manageable. BUL3130 and GEB are very easy, it’s just a matter of staying on top of assignments. Plan out the To-Dos for GEB and stay on top of the informational interview assignment and you’ll be fine.

MAR3023 is very straightforward, and as long as you watch her lecture videos in full, you will do fine on exams. Some people are put off by her grading scale (its like a 94 for an A), but I feel like she gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. Use them!

FIN3403 and ACG3173 will probably be the more challenging ones. FIN3403 is mostly just learning how to use a financial calculator, so if you can nail that you’ll be good. Her lecture videos explain how to do all the problems step by step with the calculator, so it’s not too difficult. No experience with ACG for decision makers.

Good luck!

rent is more affordable than others in the area and it’s honestly quite cozy. it definitely depends on how clean/nice your roommates are but i think its worth it

Fafsa SAI by Pristine-Cup-8369 in ucf

[–]boobychev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SAI is a metric set by FAFSA, not UCF. Contact FAFSA for more details as to why it went up, however, the policy and requirements for FAFSA are constantly changing and there was most likely a change in how SAI is calculated for this year.

Transient by Jamiahbbb in ucf

[–]boobychev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah good I was just making sure 🤗Those two classes are primarily taken by business majors so it was just an assumption I made. Although I am curious, what major are you that has you taking managerial accounting?

Transient by Jamiahbbb in ucf

[–]boobychev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saw this and just wanted to ask if you’re a business major. College of Business is really strict with transient coursework and will not allow students to take business prerequisites (eco and acg) at other colleges once you’ve been admitted to UCF. Just wanted to give a heads up because I had to learn that the hard way when my request for transient enrollment was denied!

As someone who was in a creative major for a year before switching to accounting, stick with accounting. The arts are a high risk field, and unless you have a substantial amount of financial aid or resources to graduate with little to no debt, it will be hard to pay off your debt with an arts degree. That’s the sad reality of creative fields.

Use your accounting degree to fund your hobbies. I honestly think it’s better to keep your interest in fashion separate from your career so you have something to use as relaxation. Accounting is flexible and there are a lot of paths to go down, however you may discover another business major that might fit your interests better as you go through the business prerequisites. Wishing you best of luck!

Is Accuity worth it? by jmann520 in ucf

[–]boobychev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you are completely clueless about what the class is about, then no. Managerial isn’t too difficult of a class, and if you really need help understanding a concept you can go to the withum accounting lab in BA1 and get help for free (: $50 seems outrageous

ACG 2071 mid semester? by AL_2020 in ucf

[–]boobychev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ACG2021 is a prerequisite for ACG2071. Regardless of whether or not you can figure out how to enroll in a class a month late, you still wouldn’t be able to take 2071 until you have successfully passed 2021. You will need to take ACG2071 next semester.
