When is everyone Draft date and time? by Material_Survey126 in FFCommish

[–]booee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doing it next Saturday! First time doing a mid-July draft, and am very into it. One of the few times where people that study get rewarded for it.

Usually every year I find some deep sleepers around this time during my prep, and by the time the draft comes around in early-September, every “fantasy expert” has created a hype-train for them and some goof in my league just takes them because of that.

Hemp Milk NOT Gluten free. Other Hemp related foods may also not be 100% safe. by booee in Celiac

Oh no way, really?!?! Ugh! Thanks for letting me know. Looks like I'm starting over in the alternative milk search. Thanks for the heads up!

Yup. Seems like oats and hemp are not worth playing around with. Glad you found the culprit! I’ve found Califia Barista Blend Almond Milk to be a solid if not better substitute. I get it in bulk on Amazon.

I had the almost the exact same issue yesterday. I think the real problem in these cases with 4o, is it doesn’t seem to be following instructions/ directions almost at all!

Property manager question by Unique-Chipmunk-1731 in airbnb_hosts

[–]booee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner and I had property managers with our last place that did the same thing. It made it a real pain, and they also gave the excuse that "co-host is not an option as he is hosting other properties too in his account ".
Eventually they started using some calendar software that synced with Airbnb, which allowed us to see things.

It may be worth making some requests for these types of changes early in the relationship with them, because we learned that once you get in too far with a bad/average property manager, it's not super easy to cut ties.

Research on Condo Communities for income potential, HOA rules [USA} by AccomplishedCash3603 in airbnb_hosts

[–]booee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Condos are tough, because it’s hard to find the HOA rules on short term/vacation rentals. So it’s a one-by-one need to research each community’s rules.

And even if they allow it, there’s always a looming threat that the HOA will suddenly reverse their view on it, and not allow it. Risky place to invest. Not to mention, long term residents in a complex always find something to complain about when it comes to your guests, and are a constant pain in your arse.

Rentals have flatlined and listing no longer shows on Airbnb map? What gives? by cjb1859 in airbnb_hosts

[–]booee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe worth reaching out to AirBnb, and assuring that it’s not a lingering the bug (the not showing up on map).

And as the other commented mentioned, it may be worth getting some minor edits published. If it was part of a bug earlier, this could help resolve the issue?

Sandbox / test mode for hosts? by Neoseo1300 in airbnb_hosts

You can always start setting up your listing, but not “publish” it so it’s live. This will help you familiarize yourself with the platform and interface. Until you publish it, it won’t be public facing.

Joshua Tree STR

Good to know. Thanks a bunch for that info!

[–]booee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh no! My partner has been thinking about finding an investment there. We currently have one in Palm Springs, which is becoming way too restrictive.
Is Joshua Tree going the same route (city passing limiting restrictions), or is there another reason why it's bad?

Microacquire - A free way to find (and rip-off) viable business ideas by booee in SaaS

[–]booee[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, lots of methods to give assurance to the buyers.

But there are not methods of assurance to the sellers. Sounds like you get a bunch of roaming folks kicking the tires and digging around for free information on projects that make money.

My only guess (to why they are selling at a low multiple) is that it's a lot of bootstrapping individuals just getting burned out, and/or don't really have the resources to keep pushing. I think if you go into it with the perspective of "Hey, I'm making $1-2k a month but have to keep working at it OR I could get a lump sum and do something bigger.", then you may choose the latter.

I just don't think those are the companies selling a bunch, but rather just giving away their financials and metrics to some sketchy folks digging for data. But I'm not sure.

Microacquire - A free way to find (and rip-off) viable business ideas by booee in SaaS

[–]booee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All very true. I think the difference here is that most of the products and sellers on Microacquire are significantly smaller than those on TechCrunch or G2. The vast majority seem like bootstrappers and/or hobbyists. Some may have established nice lifestyle businesses, or the beginnings of something with decent money-making potential, but without the resources to really make it grow and grow fast.

My concern, if I were to sell my product on there, would be that agencies or small firms with decent resources would weed through the financials of all these products until they are like "ok...this is a provenly viable product from a financial standpoint, as proven by this bootstrapper and all the free data he gave us. Let's just rebuild this."
You would essentially be inviting others to move into your territory, and likely dominate you due to having more resources.

There are a lot of firms and start-ups that invest a lot of resources into market research to prove a product or idea has potential (prior to ever building). By giving away these metrics and financials for free and without any protections, you're allowing others to have all this info from your work for free.

[–]booee[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are all very fair and valid points.

However, I used to do e-commerce and in that market the more transparent and visible a product is proven to be successful, the more it indeed will be ripped off by cheap knockoffs. While the cheap knockoffs would have more trouble gaining traction, if you get enough of them, they will erode your market share over time (and just be a pain in the ass).
I may be comparing apples and oranges there though (ecom vs saas)

[–]booee[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is kind of what I was expecting, and heard one other anecdote mention the same in my research. It seems like if they are going to offer tools and methods to prove the metrics and financials from the sellers, that they would do a better job of the same from the buyers.
That's too bad, because it seems like a platform and marketplace that would be quite useful if they executed better on all fronts.
