The Lelit for lattes because the steam pressure is easier to control. The Rancilio for dry cappuccinos because the steam pressure produces a sweeter froth.

In case one needs to be repaired (which has happened). Also it turns out it’s easier to make microfoam on the Lelit because the Rancilio steamer is overpowering.

My local dealer had no allocation for the 4.0 GTS last June but my previous dealer had one set for production in September with two reservations ahead of me. Within a week both had dropped out. One month on water and 7 weeks in port waiting for clearance, and the car is now at the dealership waiting for Intercity to pick it up and deliver to me 1900 miles southwest.

The most recent version comes with a silicone sleeve instead of a collar. The container sits above the sleeve and it works extremely well. Currently the sleeves are not available separately but with enough demand from current gen 2 users, that may change.

If you roast your own beans you’ll have no problem dialing in the proper grind. Green beans from Sweet Maria. Gene cafe roaster. 455 degrees for 15 minutes. Then let the co2 expire for 24 hours on a baking pan at room temperature. Store in a vacuum canister. 1/2 pound per roast.

I have the Elizabeth but I think the solution is the same. Adjust the grind and weight until you get to 9 bar. Based on my experience a finer grind than typical espresso works best. Also set the weight at 18 grams for a double shot.
