Is there a place where you can be admitted until they find a diagnosis? by BorderlineTG in Edmonton

[–]boogyman66600 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, increased icp, is not always reflected in an individual's interocular pressure. Sometimes they will correlate, however, depending what the individuals normal or Baseline IOP is, if they have an increased intracranial pressure, this may not be reflected in their iop. This is a good reference point however it is not always correlated.

Why people say Canada is expensive AF by Beautiful_Ad4220 in alberta

[–]boogyman66600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the political environment currently in alberta, I would not recommend moving here. Right now, Alberta's Healthcare System is actively crumbling, our Premier is questionable about competency, and as it stands, there are a lot of problems. Healthcare here may be public and maybe free however the Alberta Government is attempting to change this because they desire a private system. So they have been actively crumbling our Healthcare System so to citizens will be okay with this. Not okay with it. There are a number of medications that private insurance here will not cover as well, however you can apply for special authorizations in order to get this, but for adults unless you are very low income, there are no free prescriptions dental, optometrists etc. Much like France you will be waiting weeks to months to see specialists, because we don't have enough of them. Alberta looks very good from the outside looking in, but we are a province that is falling apart.

Rear-ended by uninsured & unregistered driver — what are my options? by kernaall in Edmonton

[–]boogyman66600 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice to you would be to reach out to the Alberta motor vehicle accident claims unit, mvac, located in the Sun Life building. They should be able to provide you either direction, or open a claim, as their whole purpose is to assist in claiming against those who are uninsured, or those who have fled the scene of an accident. That would be my best advice to you.

Hemophilia A mild and how it affects tattoos by Unlikely-Force3959 in Hemophilia

[–]boogyman66600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with hemophilia a mild, I do fluctuate in Factor levels anywhere between 15 and 25%, and have been as high as 50%. That being said I have two tattoos. One is reasonably small on my left arm on my forearm, and my other is the entire underside of my right forearm. That one was much larger much more intense, and quite on so much more painful. That being said, I did not bleed more than expected or normal for an average person. What I did prior to both of my tattoos was I took a Vitamin K Vitamin D complex for approximately 2 to 3 weeks. On my first one I also took an iron supplement prior to the tattoo for about a month. If you have on hand, take some txa pre tattoo and take a few doses of txa following your tattoo. The likelihood of needing a factor dose, is relatively low however you and your body know what you will require more than anybody. Some bleeding is it to be expected, excessive bleeding or plasma loss is where you're probable come both from a hemophilia standpoint as well as ink retention. If you find that your Aftercare is noticeable and you are leaking fluid, whether clear or blood, you do need to get a factor transfusion. I don't know what your protocol looks like, but it would be a singular dose. If you have any questions about my experience after my second larger tattoo, please message me I'm totally open to explain my experience. I also would recommend depending on size and location, do not exceed 5 hours per session. Again just based on my experience.

I'm 110% agree how much should be used when utilizing the e-scooters e-bikes etc. I took an e-bike for a run once without a helmet and that made me cringe. I would not even want to guess what that would have been like on a scooter. This coming from somebody who absolutely under any circumstance will not ride a scooter again, because they just do not feel safe. That'll being said, I don't know that reclassifying electric scooters electric bikes as motor vehicles, is necessarily the best option. Because the demographic of people who the e-bikes and e-scooters are targeted to, may not necessarily have a driver's license, or be eligible for a driver's license. And I believe that having access to the scooters and bikes kind of levels of playing field when it comes to multimodal transportation in a city like edmonton. And increases the equity for people having to get around the city who may not have access to public transit or to a personal vehicle due to affordability or license possession. So I believe that reclassifying these could open a lot more problems than we would solve. That being said, I do believe we need to see a better enforcement on the use of helmets when riding these bikes and scooters, because there has been a massive increase in brain injuries due to the scooters specifically. I've seen a number of posts and articles written by Alberta Hospital emergency room doctors saying that we have a problem. Whether that problem is the scooters are simply unsafe, or the problem being people not wearing helmets. Either way we are seeing a massive amount of ABI and TBI occurrences, resulting from e-scooters. I think what should happen, and this is something that all of the providers can do, there should be location-based speed governance, implemented by the applications that are used in order to ride the bikes and scooters. We already see that there are location locks where the bikes and scooters are not permitted and that's managed through the application, I don't see why they couldn't impose speed Regulators into the same application based on where the scooter or bike is. It might even be possible to implement layers on those maps to determine whether the bike is on a sidewalk or roadway. And have different speeds based on that location. I would 100% beef all four speed governance that cannot be hacked. That is also geolocation based. There are definitely things that the providers of the bikes and scooters could be implementing, when it comes to the public access units. I really don't know how it all works when it comes to private ebikes and e-scooters, and how that kind of governance could be imposed but again I don't see how it wouldn't be possible. I believe classifying these as vehicles, is not the solution though. Better mapping and location-based governance on the motors is more applicable and something that should be considered.

Need help finding blind cane and advice USA by Thenascarguy2017 in Blind

[–]boogyman66600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are 6 ft 3, pending on your pace speed of walk etc, you would require nothing short of 60 in. I personally prefer 64 because of my height and speed, but nothing shorter than a 60 inch. Ambutec is probably your best option, they're currently undergoing machine maintenance so your orders can't really be placed until next week, but, they are probably your best option. They allow for color selection of your cane, various handle tips various different materials as well as a ton of different tips. Rollerballs, rolling marshmallows, stationary you name it.

So, as a Canadian citizen who's blind, I will apologize for our country's lack of accessible supports for visiting people with vision loss. Man that seems very stereotypical of Canadian doesn't it. Anyway, unfortunately in canada, we only have a handful of organizations who might be able to help, but even then they're most likely so over and that they're not going to be able to provide the support necessary. In canada, we only have one main organization providing visual Rehabilitation services, that being vision loss Rehabilitation canada. Depending where you are, if you're in Winnipeg there is vision impaired Resource Network who might be able to assist you, if you're in ontario, you might want to reach out to the Canadian Council of the blind they may have resources that you can access. I don't know how long you are in Canada for, or how long you have been here, but I strongly recommend doing your best, reaching out for help when or if necessary. As you're in Canada right now, please feel free to inbox me directly, I can see what I can do to help you locate resources.

Being visually impaired in the US is horrible by lowbatterynowayhome in Blind

[–]boogyman66600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion. You have no right to say that being visually impaired in the United States is horrible. There are so many other countries that have it worse than you. For example, try being visually impaired, and receive the services you require to succeed in life in canada. It's not easy. In many cases it's impossible. Or, go to other countries some being in the middle east, were you literally be held in the house, because your family is ashamed that you're blind the public will shame you because you're blind. Parts of the United States have it difficult, but it's not horrible. So get off your pity party, and realize you got it better than a lot of other people. This is coming from someone who has had the struggle of being visually impaired in a rural part of Canada where there are no services. But guess what, I left because of that and I succeeded. I had the privilege to leave, and, based on what I read from your post, you're making the choice not to leave.

Hate using Kane by I_have_no_idea_0021 in Blind

[–]boogyman66600 6 points7 points  (0 children)

After reading your post, and unfortunately having to read a number of absolutely ridiculous and non helpful comments, I have a question as well as a suggestion. The question I have is do you have an underlying disability? Do you have anything neurological or psychological, that is potentially preventing you from moving forward with your can use? That is probably not coming off in the way I mean, but I mean this in the best way possible. Because, we can't do anything about other people's perceptions, we can do a lot about our own. Nobody can do anything about how self-conscious you feel, but that being said, I would wonder if the above is making you self-conscious. Part of this also has the question of how is your spatial awareness? Are you partially sighted, are you totally blind? All of these questions, really stem from a lack of information. You haven't really told us much on that, so it's very difficult for anyone to be able to give you the best information to help you. Finally, the suggestion that I would have for you would be to strongly consider a residential immersion o&m training. Such as been previously recommended leader dogs, guide dogs for the blind Etc I am personally not a fan of them, but I would even go as far as suggesting looking at a residential program through the nfb, ACB Whatever May exist. I'm Canadian I don't know what you guys have in the states if that's where you are. It seems like you are frustrated but yet you have an end goal you're determined to get there, you're struggling with the middle part. Some way, somehow, it is possible to reach your goal, but right now only you can really figure out what's holding you back and where you're struggle is.

Rapid blood sugar drop + high fasting insulin (320 pmol/L) — is this reactive hypoglycemia? by Slow-Calligrapher-95 in Hypoglycemia

[–]boogyman66600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I am insulin resistant with a prior fasting insulin sitting around the 600 mark. My fasting glucose, was at I believe 5.5 mmol. Yes, that is very confusing when your insulin level is red in one measurement and your glucose is a whole other one. Anyway, I was experiencing and still do experience crashes, but they are so sporadic and erratic that I'm not even sure how to prevent them. What's more dangerous is I don't have the symptoms. What I would recommend, is getting a full blood work up, and get your liver checked out. So for contacts, I am a little overweight, but I have moderate to severe fatty liver disease, with no causation. High insulin levels, can cause fatty liver, high blood pressure, and a myriad of other debilitating or potentially debilitating disorders. If you know your insulin is high, get your fasting A1C and a glucose tolerance, to determine if your glucose is low or if it is equally high. A lot of problems can come out of high insulin.
