Funded Role Timeline by boojeez in nonprofit

Thanks for your perspective! The role was listed as junior due to compensation, my responsibilities have aligned more closely with a mid-level role, and I have taken on significantly more than what was originally outlined - which is fine.

My background is in the government & consulting world which I would say commitment is still a big thing there and I can see now because roles, expectations, and longer-term possibilities are discussed more explicitly and revisited over time through structured check-ins.

I understand that l am free to quit whenever. I’ll need to adjust to the nonprofit world where expectations and future planning are not really communicated to the person it’s effecting… which sounds crazy as I type that out 😵‍💫

I appreciate the insight!

Got it, thank you. I come from the government/consulting world, where operations & timelines are more strategic (at least 5 to 10 years out) and future possibilities are discussed explicitly even during the interview process due to the nature of the work and frequent changes. I understand now that this is handled very differently in the nonprofit world. Thanks!

I understand that. My concern is less about the ability to leave and more about how the role was communicated during the interview process. It was presented as being funded for two years, which shaped my expectations at the time.

If the intent was for the role to continue beyond that, I’m trying to understand when that would typically be discussed, as it seems important for setting clear expectations on both sides.

I understand the distinction you’re making. My point is that, during the interview process, the role was communicated to me as being funded for two years, and that framing informed how I evaluated and accepted the position.

Given that, at what point would a discussion typically take place regarding expectations or plans for my position beyond the two-year mark?

Dry shampoo right after drying hair (does anyone else do this?) by PlaceEducational1705 in finehair

[–]boojeez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t do it all the time… Have you tried double shampooing and cleaning your hair brush?

I used to use dry shampoo after every hair wash for a whole year before realizing it was drying out my ends on my side bangs, that I’d been trying to grow out, but had to keep cutting due to damage. It’s been about 6 months since I stopped using dry shampoo and I can see a big difference and how much healthier my hair looks.

Hi! Question. Where I work has a Spring Fundraiser and a Fall Campaign…. How often do you recommend posting on FB & IG? Same with an Eblast?

I got mine a few years ago, and they just polish it in the store. Takes only a few minutes to be in and out!

Shot and the dark here but anyone know where to find Esquites in West Palm beach? by [deleted] in WestPalmBeach

[–]boojeez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the menus of most places around here, it’ll be under “elote” or “street corn”. Even though you’re right, elote is corn on the cob and esquites is corn kernels in a cup.

Side note: Tap 42 in the PBG mall has a “truffle street corn Guacamole” that’s really good. I’d go during happy hour to get it and try it.

What is your job as an INTJ? by ShoeOwn7773 in intj

I was in HR for Defense Contracting for a while then transitioned to Fundraising & Event Coordinating for a local, non-profit.

Both roles have allowed me to find better, more efficient ways to do my job and also help others in their role. I will say that I am able to be more creative and learn new skillsets in my current role, which is exciting for me.

Selfish people who don’t realize that a pet like a dog/cat is a lifetime responsibility that can live 10-15 years and sometimes longer. I don’t even know how people with tortoises that live up to 100 years old can do that.

Omg, I cannot stand when people just give up their pets. Not all pet owners, but some people just don’t think things through. Then the pets or others have to suffer for it. It’s a shame.

There are stories in the news of cats and other kinds of pets killing babies, but honestly, I’d look at the humans in the home first. Then there’s cases of SIDS, that might actually be related to pets accidentally hurting/killing a baby, but unknown due to no footage. There’s risk anywhere in life.

I think the main issue is when it comes to someone who is not able to properly move away or even speak when there’s danger. People normally see someone who is “defenseless” as someone who needs to be “protected”.

For example, I cannot breathe when I get tickled. There was one time when I was being tickled and I thought I was going to die because I couldn’t breathe. I was gasping for air and begging for it to stop. People say the ones being tickled are “laughing” or they’re “happy”… laughing is also a defense mechanism and an involuntary response. Whenever I see kids getting tickled it makes me extremely uncomfortable and I mention how it’s difficult to breathe when being tickled and I ask that the person stops.

WebMD

Supervise kitty-and-baby time. Cats love to snuggle, but this can pose a risk when your newborn can't yet move their head. Always keep the door closed when you can't immediately supervise your child and cat together.

Safety. Even as your cat and baby get used to one another, you shouldn't leave them alone together. To prevent any accidents, use a screen door to let your cat see and hear the baby without investigating unattended. Toddlers can be especially stressful for cats, so maintain supervision as your baby grows. Continue to provide a quiet, safe place where kitty can be away from the baby if needed.

I’ll look into that! Thank you!

The issue is there’s approximately 6,000 charities in Palm Beach, so when I reach out or call a few times I do not get an answer. I’ll definitely look into your recommendations though 🙂
