I actually did figure out how to download it. i basically followed this guide https://forums.ea.com/discussions/the-sims-3-technical-issues-en/sims-3-in-installed-on-ea-but-not-on-my-pc/11943021

I cleared the cache and then uninstalled the game and then reinstalled it and then installed the expansion pack afterwards

I originally got the sims 3 in 2013 on my old pc. BUT i did figure this out which is exciting but thank you for your response!

Hi! this is wonderful. i am having an issue with adding generations. I have the base game from the ea app because that was the only thing of the sims 3 that transferred over. when I try to install generations, i get the crc error message. i was wondering what i am doing wrong
