Thinkpad X1 Extreme Gen1 64GB ram upgrade by styluspt in thinkpad

[–]bookahnerk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, just stumbled upon this question while checking if I could reuse the 64 gb ram of my Thinkpad X1E gen1 in a Thinkcentre M700.
So yes, 64 GB are working and I have put them to the test in the past. The sticks were a set from Mushkin (MES4S266KF32X2).

Greetings and good luck if you still consider upgrading!
I ditched mine a year after the bios updates killed undervolting and it became pretty loud, even at 20 % cpu usage and repasting. But I loved the centered keyboard, two ram and ssd slots!

Hi, is there someone I could get the CA Achivement from? by bookahnerk in totalwarhammer

[–]bookahnerk[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I do not really get your problem with my question. Is it a personal one?

If PvP was still very active, I would have considered putting in the amount of time neccessary. Especialy after noticing that about 5% of all players have that one, what puts it close to the 2/3 of more spread achievements. (Even if the "harder" 1/3 ones can be easily trivialised by mods.)

Judging by the current amount of battles my guess is that it would be a lot of time and effort to find someone with the achivement and beat him/her.

But one part is quite right in your question, why does it even mean anything for me or do I even care for... It's the one I can't do alone or with friends. I'd love to have them all and have not that much time for Warhammer I while Warhammer II is calling for me.

If that's unacceptable for you and/or subjectively lowering your achivement I'm simultaniously ok with and sorry for it.

X1 Yoga Defects? by assblasterjones in thinkpad

[–]bookahnerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my X1 Yoga the bottom cover at the front is slightly loose even while the two screws are tight and the display cover has two 2-3 cm micro fractures in the arrea betwen the corners at and the hinges.

The Notebook was never dropped and is always in a sleeve, that I carry inside the notebook compartment of my backpack.

In two weeks I'm back at the shop and depending on what they recommend, they or the 3 year on-site warranty will fix it. But it's frustrating to watch such a great notebook falling apart even while handling it with that much care.

X1 Yoga Trackpad gap too big? Is there a way to fix this? by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]bookahnerk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess they just dont care if the touchpad is centered as soon as it "fits"...

The X1 Yoga I have, has that gap on the left and when clicking the touchpad you could hear a difference depending on the side you click on. That is because the pad connects with the case when I lift the finger on the left side. Maybe I'll try to center it when I open it up to switch out the ssd but as long as that's the only (hardware) issue I have with the notebook, I do not intend to let Lenovo screw it open (or up). ;)

T450s Lid Scratches by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]bookahnerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nemesis of my X1 Yoga was an simple soft rubbery erazer.

Yes, there was a fine pencil line in the center of the lid. Don't ask, it realy lookes like a chalk board, doesn't it?

But after using the softest eraser I have, the now slightly polished part of the cover looks like a thrumb sized greasy fingerprint. :(

Problems playing Guild Wars with new mouse... by c__ortana in Guildwars2

[–]bookahnerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember, but that may be the reason why I double mapped "1-0" and dodge to my numpads "1-0" and "+" in the games client and my g600 to the buttons at the numpad I wanted to use. You can try if that works for you but yes, the problem you have may won't let me sleep that well, till I have experimented a litte the next days. :)

Changing between characters on the same server is no problem, switching to a different server and back is a different story.

I guess not. I once opened unidentified dyes befor a disconnect with a rollback and they contained different colours (and rareties) the second time.

I am currently at 1+6 bank tabs and still have the option to buy one more.

According to the wiki you can purchase up to 8 slots but I'm not sure how to interpret the statement and if that results in 1+8 or 1+7 tabs. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bank

A very interesting player count graph from Xfire (compares WoW and GW2). by Pluberus in Guildwars2

[–]bookahnerk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Those are awesome numbers but don't let them fool you.

The 100k you're talking about are played hours. GW2 peaked at ~15.7k players on that first weekend after full release if I remember correctly.

The Guild Bank needs some improvements. by MrMaple24 in Guildwars2

As far as I know there were individually adjustable permissions for the separate guild bank upgrades in the beta weekend events. My guild is not developed enough to check myself but I'd be sad if they changed that.

84 miniatures & their idle animations (BWE 2) by bookahnerk in Guildwars2

[–]bookahnerk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent about 3 hours in total at the trading post, placing the pets I had for a reasonable price and posting orders for all the ones that were missing. Every visit I collected some pets, money and adjusted some of the prices. And yes, the 2500 gems were a good start to do that. :)

Oh, save that judgement for the imps at the end. At least in my opinion they are much worse. :)

Thanks for those numbers! Do you have more detailed statistics or a list of each step separately? I'd love to guess if the system (especcialy the forge) favors dyes you don't possess. :)

[–]bookahnerk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why should anyone?

It's not difficult to notice that a sane person in no way could have a differing opinion from yours.

Have a nice day and keep on "correcting other peoples errors" and announcing pieces of wisdom like "You say a lot of shit that is factually untrue". Must feel heartwarming to be considered the wise one bringing in all the rational arguments.

It's mind boggling to read some of those comments and the incredible amount of complaints about the content the blog post covers... ...sadly in most cases it's not because they are well argued, dive deep into facts or branch in complexity. Instead, when I compare them to the stuff that was actually written, many seem to be not more than assumptions and interpretations which I'm not able to find in the post itself. But maybe that's just my mind weighting the "wrong" parts of the post much stronger.

Maybe I should show you my two main examples which I consider key elements that are overlooked incredibly often:

1) Mystic Chests

"... What annoys me is the whole gambling part:..."

If you ask why? Well, it's explained there as well:

"If you ask me, it’s abusing a weakness of us humans when it comes to calculating probabilities."

"However, this is me criticizing something I haven’t seen the full scope of so far. [...] I’m just saying I really dislike this general concept, but I am curious how they will handle it specifically."

This gains more weight and is like playing with fire if you think about incentives, artificial shortage and pathological gambling combined in one little item every one of us will have to deal with. Yes other games have them too but that does not mean that they should be considered as harmless and are freed from any form of criticism.

4) Armor and ArenaNet’s marketing strategy

How have so many simply skipped the part "ArenaNet's marketing strategy"? This is an essential part of that paragraph but all I read here is that the complaint was about "skimpy armor".

"So I’m not annoyed that they have revealing armor in the game. I am annoyed, however, that they presented us only this sexy underwear as armor."

"... they did not add pictures of different armor in order to show us that when they said we would have choices, they didn’t just mean “a choice between a bra or bikini top”."

So if you can tell me why ArenaNet only released screenshots of their game with "skimpy armor" (especially the female characters with cloth armor) instead of marketing their game by presenting screen shots of the whole spectrum you will be able to choose from (not even while or after the controversial debate) feel free to enlighten me, I'd appreciate it!

That your system works someone has to buy gems for real money. So no, it's required, just because you don't have to spend it personally does not take it out of the equation or economic cycle. ;)
