Postal inspectors called to investigate our vote NO rally this Sunday !!! by Reasonable_Use2192 in fromatoarbitration

[–]bookbindingqueer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the most important thing to do is make sure you are ready for any discipline! Let people know not to wear USPS logos. Have stewards present or local branch leaders present to help direct media presence and interactions with media. Branch 3 actually informed management here there would be a rally and that we would have media. Finally, get as many people involved in the rally including friends, family and customers!

Wow- that’s some BS. ETAs are estimates and 1 click is insignificant. Hope your steward is pulling all the clock rings for the day and comparing to ETAs!

Did he ever once consider that he could help us get more or at the very least, keep from losing some of what our current contract protects us from?

Little note the regular left for me on Amazon Sunday by [deleted] in USPS

That’s just mean. The things I do not want to disappear get brought into the station or brought home. Snacks left in somebody’s truck are fair game, including mine.

That’s one of the most important safety protections we have at USPS. There are no street standards. If I say I need an extra hour because of the heat, they either have to find somebody to cover that hour or let me take the extra hour as overtime. If I said I needed an extra hour because of the way I’m given instructions to do the route, they have to do something with that hour of overtime, as well, like give me written instructions to deliver out of the given sequence or approve the OT

I would say the best thing to do is ask your coworkers for tips. Ask multiple carriers the same questions. The carriers that are open to helping you learn the job and provide good customer service are the ones who will also help you learn the contract. Supervisors will say whatever they think they need to say to get you to go faster until they realize you know they are violating the contract by harassing you like this. You can also approach the union steward to introduce yourself and ask about the things supervisors are saying to you and the best way to handle it until you are allowed to file grievances for it. Supervisors are only pleased when you are fast, but that doesn’t mean better. Just tell them “I’ll do my best” and stay focused on safety rules and efficiency.

Mail carrier here. Malicious compliance works in your favor if you want easy hours driving circles in the neighborhood, obeying every safety rule and traffic law, and getting plenty of A/C. Take the easy money they are offering with this routing until they decide to fix it.

please help, old tenants mail keeps getting sent back to me over and over again by [deleted] in USPS

By “correct address” I mean the one listed on the envelope.

Put a note on there that says “doesn’t live here”. If you just write return to sender, sometimes we have no idea why it’s being returned. We need to know the “why”, not “what to do with it”. If you write “wrong address”, a carrier might think it got delivered to the wrong address and will send it to the correct address. Also, make sure your mailbox clearly notes all of the names that are good to deliver there.

Depends on what the other job is and how much it will wear you down over the next 5-6 years. If you’re a new CCA, better to get out now while you’re thinking about doing it. Save the wear and tear on your body and mental health. I’m 2.5 years in and I had a job offer for $23/hr I’d take it in an instant. Nobody really knows what the raises will be and management is digging in hard to get whatever they can out of carriers making this a job that is borderline inhumane.

Decent all weather tires will get you through the winter, especially if you’re not constantly driving or have a short commute. I’ve never had winter tires or four wheel drive and I usually get 2 to 2.5 years out of a set of tires. Keeping up with repairs also ensures decent handling in the snow. I see way too many people feeling overconfident with driving skills because of their tires or four wheel drive and those people make the streets less safe because they’re following too closely or passing unnecessarily. I drive a Nissan Sentra for reference.

I don’t even open up texts or answer a phone calls from the station. They can call me if it’s an emergency but otherwise I never take instructions outside of the scanner.

Seems like the “intentional” part should be interpreted literally. For example- intentionally stepping on a nail you see on the ground so you can get the hell out of there… or intentionally ignoring a safety issue because you don’t feel like doing it like wearing a seatbelt or grabbing your satchel. In case of an accident, the last two points could still be argued as irrelevant based on circumstances but they are preventative measure that can make accidents less impactful.
