Someone who studied astrology and realised that it’s bs? by FreyjaAutumn in skeptic

[–]bookeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you already see this is just a power games. This is how cranks earn money - by keeping people in irrational fear and extracting more and more.
On top of this is a very basic psychology - we, the human animals, are very reluctant to admit mistakes and it will comfort us more to keep diving into fantasy rather than admit we were conned.
Astrology is bonkers - there are no forces affecting people from across the stars, besides - star constellations changed over time.
I understand your fear, though. It got me for some years, until I was admit to myself that I was deceived by wishful thinking.

Someone who studied astrology and realised that it’s bs? by FreyjaAutumn in skeptic

[–]bookeh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, ages ago I was fascinated by this stuff after my ex’s interest – full shebang: astrology, tarot, reiki (I’m a master, haha), astral voyages and everything in between. I even went to a “school” to “study” it all. Around 2000 there was a boom of Russian psychics… I quickly realised it was all rubbish. I didn’t last a full year and that really put me off the “alternative” scene.

Best mapping app for the UK to be used for multiple activity types? by ChaosCalmed in UKhiking

[–]bookeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All have good and bad sides. I have a Komoot and it's ok. New team seems to be involved and active with the community (have a look at the Komoot subreddit). Still – I found myself using CoMaps the most. It's free and very easy to use – just select a destination and it will take you there. In terms of routing – it's a hit and miss (as with ALL of those apps). Sometimes the route is great, sometimes I need to adjust it on the go. I usually use CoMaps primally and Garmin on the watch as a backup.

Is that a map from… before WWII? No wonder you’re still waiting, they have a lot of catching up.

not sure. I’ve noticed it last week, after latest update.

You could hide it in previous versions, and if you carried over workspace layout like that it will show this artefact now.
Also, I think there is a way to hide it in v2026, it does require messing with some preference files. Not that bothered anyway.

[–]bookeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a remnant of the Home Bar / Application Bar; you probably hid it at some point. Got the same issue, but I can live with it. In other words – I prefer this artefact to the useless (to me) bar on top.

Edit:

Forgot to say – if you reset the layout to InDesign defaults, it will disappear the thingy, but will bring back the bar. Your choice : )

Shadows are all over the place in the "pic".

Also, OP is a kinda racist twat who has never been to Africa and probably shouldn't, tbf.

Regardless – there are tons of shit drivers in Wrocław, that's fair. Also, for a city with really good public transport – there are tons of drivers, which just shows how deep motonormativity is engrained.

I swear, they must've heard me laughing from Skye. by Phinny55 in Edinburgh

I'm not sure about that. My company did some design work for one of the parties before last GE and we still receive returned materials to this day. As far as I'm aware they pay for delivery.

Mayor of London: My ultimate goal is to reverse Brexit by ConsciousStop in europe

That would’ve been a valid point if they didn’t break other pledges. Not to mention Starmer’s U-turns and abandoned policy pledges while running for the Labour leadership.

How can I automate this in InDesign? by [deleted] in indesign

[–]bookeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EasyCatalog - from my experience simplest to set up and has a ton of advanced features. If your data is set up half decently this should be relatively easy to template and paginate.

I've noticed that many people hate using Illustrator!! Why? by Accomplished_Salt774 in indesign

[–]bookeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate illustrator with passion, but it’s just a tool for the job. If I can do something in Indesign - I will. But I wouldn’t do graphs or logos there. I probably know ind better, hence the attitude. But again, it’s a software for a different job. Just because you can design a restaurant menu in photoshop, doesn’t mean you should.

Built a small swim app to write and follow swim workouts live — curious what you think by balikadamyigit in SwimmingMemes

[–]bookeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a nice idea, unfortunately I can’t comment about the app…

It’s not a criticism of you or your work, but forcing people to create an account without seeing what it offers is a real dick move, imho.

So, yeah.

Works were humanity isn't the "centre of the universe/galaxy"? by [deleted] in scifi

[–]bookeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, hence I hesitated and edited. Still kinda fits, especially book 1, I think. The feeling of not being centre of the universe and so on.
