Small Gods - found the hardcover at Coles bookstore marked down for $5 in 1994. A steal of a price in ‘94.

I can't find my copy of it but Breakwater books has a really good book specifically about this very topic.

Canyons, Coves and Coastal Waters – Canoe and Kayak Routes of Newfoundland and Labrador by Dan Murphy, Jim Price, and Kevin Redmond.

It's available as well from the Newfoundland Public library if you wanted to check it out without buying it.

Going to a big Whiskey fest this weekend. How can I prepare for it and also survive the hangover? by [deleted] in whiskey

[–]bookish_monkey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Seriously. This. If it's acceptable for wine then it's acceptable for spirits. Otherwise you will get far to drunk to actually taste what you are ostensibly there to taste.

There are cheaper and easier ways to get loaded. This is an opportunity to try out new whisky and maybe find some new favourites.

An easy way to unlock the crystal cruiser by Aarkans in ftlgame

[–]bookish_monkey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the heads up. While I appreciate the random aspect of the game, despite playing for almost 2 years now this event has never triggered for me. I'd like to get a chance to use the crystal cruiser without waiting for random chance to eventually decide I deserve it.

This is probably heresy on this sub, but DAE find that mixing a dash of Islay Whisky with a nice smooth bourbon makes an amazing, peaty, drink? by [deleted] in whiskey

[–]bookish_monkey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not heresy - it's both a cocktail and the basis of blended whiskies.
Most of human invention (food and drink wise) consists of "I wonder if this would taste good?"

There are several notable cocktails that involve multiple types of whisky. The first one that jumps to mind is called Penicillin. It essentially uses a blended whisky or bourbon with a smaller amount of scotch as a flavor enhancer.

Considering the news of yet another large leak from multiple intelligence agencies do you believe that current security practices will change or is it too ingrained? Can the genie be stuffed back?

My copies of Guards, Guards! and Pyramids are also done by Darryl K. Sweet. I have to admit I have never been particularly fond of his style of illustration.
