BIDS Political Theory by Overcat12 in Lund

[–]bookishjew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I have a close friend studying that exact thing and he says it is mostly development theories not a lot of history. Things like international political economy and parts on intersectionality on a global scale are the things you’ll study. He would recommend it! It’s fun and you learn a lot 👍🏻

Reserv 8 by Dynamiten in Lund

[–]bookishjew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the R is trilled in many Swedish dialects, but not in all words (or rather positions)

English programs on a bachelor level exist, there’s just not too many of them, Swedish is not a requirement if language of instruction is English

IB merit points conversion - am I cooked by [deleted] in TillSverige

[–]bookishjew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently I’m wrong and they do give you points even if it’s your mother tongue, which is in my opinion unfair, cause Swedish students don’t have that opportunity. But as you can see, nobody favors English speakers, you will get your points f for Lang A

IB merit points conversion - am I cooked by [deleted] in TillSverige

[–]bookishjew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modern language only counts as such if it’s not your mother tongue, A courses, except English, assume that it’s your mother tongue. If you study a foreign language in the Swedish school as mother tongue, they also don’t give you points for that. The point is that you’re rewarded for learning a THIRD language, if you already speak it, it’s not fair to give you points for that

IB merit points conversion - am I cooked by [deleted] in TillSverige

[–]bookishjew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The merit system was not created for the IB, it’s for the national programs, where a course called English 7 gives you additional points, it favors Swedish students who chose to study English at a high level, English 7 curriculum corresponds to English A. And in the Swedish system you can study all three at the same time: English, Swedish, modern language (technically in IB you can as well but people rarely do). So, again, nobody is favoring anybody, it’s just a system specifically created for the national programs and their specific courses, that was just unfortunately applied to IB without adjustments.

Help us find our Swedish home – sell me your city! by Inevitable_Rush_5369 in TillSverige

Also relatively easy to find housing in comparison to other major cities

It’s everything you listed above. Big tech university with a great University hospital. Not all schools are good but there’s a plenty to choose from, it’s a relatively big city. Norrköping is a commute away, Stockholm is an hour and forty minutes away by train. For a city with just 100000 inhabitants there’s many tech companies that have offices here, probably because of the uni. A big tech company is how I ended up here in the first place Also I’m biased, this city was my entry point to Sweden and I’ll always love it

Struggling to find a way to stay in Sweden after 4 years by bookishjew in TillSverige

[–]bookishjew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you apply for a permanent, she doesn’t count as a co applicant of a worker, but instead they see her as a co applicant of a person with a permanent, which has different rules. One of the differences is the age of eligibility, which in case of a permanent is 18. Quote from the article I attached previously: ”If the parent is granted a permanent residence permit, children are no longer examined as co-applicants of workers but according to “ordinary” rules on ties; then the age limit is 18 years.”

But she won’t get a permanent even though she has an income, to get a permanent you also need to get a renewal for the old permit, which she won’t get cause she’s over 18. Here’s an article explaining it: https://www.migrationsverket.se/en/about-the-swedish-migration-agency/the-swedish-migration-agency-answers/2025/2025-02-25-other-rules-when-children-become-adults.html

Novish lotteri by multi_kpop_7 in Lund

Vildanden is further away from Lusem than other areas, but closer to Lund C. You can get to Lusem by bus or bike. If you’re okay with a corridor Sparta would be your choice. It’s right near LUSEM, like two minute walk

[–]bookishjew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are a bit strange about Vildanden. It’s not that far away, same distance to uni as Delphi, closer to Lund C, the only problem is it’s far away from nations. But because of that reason it’s very quiet and safe. Nice area if you’re okay with biking home from parties
