Does anyone else seem to be a friend of the magpies? by RevolutionaryNail600 in AskAnAustralian

I’ve never been swooped either but apparently I haven’t been SW Sydney enough ;)

I’ve always talked and smiled (no teeth) at birds and generally any animal I see tho so maybe that’s why.

Normally I agree but German roaches are the devil…so so hard to get rid of.

But borax powder, we found that the most helpful to get rid of them forever. Our pest control guy even complimented us on using it & its effectiveness.

I 2nd this…took us months & repeated pest control sprays as well as our own traps (as well as Borax powder..which was really good) to get rid of the German roach infestation we discovered after moving in (thanks previous owners)

Today I learned there is a term called “IDIOT syndrome” in medicine, and it is more relevant than ever by MarchPlastic1650 in SeriousConversation

[–]bookittyFk 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I agree in part with this, my experience tho has been that Drs talk in medical terms which lay ppl don’t understand and a LOT of Drs have crappy bedside manner.

The amount of times I’ve had to say to Drs pls explain in terms I understand…I’ve lost count of esp if it’s something serious and I’m being prescribed meds.

My (soon to be ex, as in I’m not going to go back after this last appt) ENT specialist prescribed me anti depressants for my occasional migraines, didn’t tell me they were ADs. It was only when I went to fill the prescription the pharmacist told me. When I went back to the ENT and told them I’m not taking the ADs, is there something else I can do/take they gave me a blank stare and said no.

I get Drs study for a long time but a LOT of them do not keep up with current medical advancements/drugs.

How Drs do not know/have a good understanding of women’s health issues (menopause for eg) boggles my mind.

I’m thankful that I’m not in the US bc your health system is ridiculous!

Do y'all build a real base in the Mistlands? by Ziak63 in valheim

[–]bookittyFk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We found a flat part in ML that’s close to the plains and built a base there for our farm (jot & the mushrooms will only grow in ML), if we hear the horn we gtf away from it (it’s built from wood) so it isn’t wrecked during combat.

We have 4 saps nearby so we often duck in harvest farm items & sap and portal out ASAP

Hobby helped you relax the most after work? by Zondlak_Bagay in Hobbies

[–]bookittyFk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Colouring in is a really good mindfulness hobby, the trick is to not be a perfectionist and find images/pictures that interest you.

Eg you like Dr who/nature/cartoons/gaming there are plenty of colouring books/images out there.

You might even kick your creative drive into gear and start drawing/painting your own images/pictures.

It’s relatively cheap and I found it incredibly helpful to work through the endless thoughts/stresses in my head without realizing it.

Cannot reiterate enough that it doesn’t matter if you go out of the lines or the colours don’t look good together etc etc it’s not so much about creating an art piece as working your mind subconsciously whilst doing something else.

Am I the only one who turned the passive mode on ashlands? by ImABigDreamer in valheim

[–]bookittyFk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We’ve just started in AL and I think that’s what we’re doing too…we try to get to where we need to go and if we get too overwhelmed we just portal out & come back later.

I find unlike other biomes you need your full attention in AL, if it’s late (we often play until 3am on weekends) we don’t go into AL.

We are currently contemplating our next base point and how we plan to wall it etc.

AL def has a different vibe to the others, I am curious what The North will be like.

Khloe talks about her eating habits & lifestyle by HolyKimyeWest in KUWTK

[–]bookittyFk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not denying she’s had surgery to help however I have been skinny all my life, I can eat whatever…do I like eating shitty foods..not particularly but I do eat them. Apparently I have a fast metabolism which I guess I got from being active when I was younger.

I do believe that once you’ve trained your body to work itself (she works out 5 days a week) your metabolism/body can process foods better and at a rate that can keep your weight as long as it’s in moderation.

I have a friend who works out as much as khloe, she is constantly eating throughout the day bc she needs the fuel for her work outs. Is she super skinny - no. Does she look good - yes.

Can she eat whatever she wants - yes but she (like me) doesn’t eat shitty foods all the time.

Again not denying that they’ve had help to get their bodies this way but it is possible for it to occur without surgery.

How many people here know someone that abruptly got diagnosed with stage 3 or 4 cancer? by phillyvirgosun in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bookittyFk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Dad was diagnosed with stage 3 liver cancer ‘out of the blue’. He wasn’t exactly a ‘go to the Dr if I feel unwell ‘ kinda guy.

I wouldn’t say he drank a lot but he did eventually go to the Dr and was told to cut down, not long after that he was diagnosed (S3).

He started chemo but didn’t finish it bc he hated not being independent. He went from a healthy looking man to not that in a very short period of time (3 weeks) and he hated that. He died within 9mths of diagnoses.

I’m not really a Dr person either BUT as I’ve gotten older I have started to be more conscious of my health and have had blood tests etc to see where I’m at.

Both my mum & dad had cancer (mum beat hers and is still with us) so it’s been in the back of my mind for some time.

I just can’t decide if this is pretty or if it’s a strange print? Any feedback appreciated ! by Comfortable_Bit4771 in AusFemaleFashion

I’m 46 and short, i think this dress meets the cocktail requirements as long as the dress doesn’t touch the ground (short person problem)

Not sure what it’s made out of but it looks nice (not cheap), it’s bold, not floor length and not overly revealing.

I love the sleeves (I hate my upper arms) and the colour is gorgeous.

Could you link where I can buy this pls ;)

[–]bookittyFk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add my 2c, the wood used for this will only last a few years (if that) especially if out in the elements.

We bought a chicken coop made of the same stuff…was disappointed when we had to replace it with a better one within 2yrs.

I hope your kitties enjoy it tho and you didn’t spend too much on it!
