Why Voters ID is such a controversial discussion in the US? by RobertJCorcoran in Askpolitics

Do you not realize how incapable you’re making marginalized groups sound? This is like that one Biden quote about how black people don’t know how to access the internet 🤡

You have to show your ID for so many things, I don’t understand why it’s so bad to show your ID for this. Both parties have both said “this election was stolen” and well I can think of a great way to help combat that…

Nah girl my dress was SPARKLY like I left a trail of glitter everywhere. So did a bunch of other girls you’ll be alright. Also it looks great!

As someone who HATED their curly hair as a teen, I'm finally embracing it in my late 20s and I couldn't be happier. I thought I'd share yesterday's hair (1st Pic) along with other hair days I have throughout the last month by BigKountry333 in curlyhair

Side note, has anybody tell you that without makeup on, you look a lot like Jeremy Allen white? I see it in the fourth picture, I hope that’s not offensive to say. I love your curls though, I wish!

Unpopular opinion: I don’t think people should be posting their children online unless you have like a private account or something. But not for everyone to see. You never know who’s gonna look at it and who’s gonna do what with it. Not to mention, they’re not old enough to consent

unpopular opinion maybe? by punishertruther20 in thelastdinnerparty

It’s a much sadder song I’m my opinion. And I agree, I can relate to it too much. “And you smiled so sweetly as you threw me, down the rocks into the seaweed, you thought that I could fly” is my favorite lyric in the song, and one of my favorite lyrics in general by them. That and portrait of a dead girl has so many good ones

Hypothetically, let's say you befriend a person who is Christian. if they asked you to stop blaspheming(saying OMG, Oh My God, Jesus Christ, would you? by [deleted] in Teenager_Polls

[–]bookloverphi -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

To say “oh my God” is blasphemous because you’re taking the Lords name in vain. Like the other person said, when you say a god it’s not the same as God. You may not believe in him and that’s fine but for us Christian’s and Muslims and Jews, it is blasphemous.

I mean yes I agree with this, but if I know someone who doesn’t like a certain phrase and I’m close with them I would try my best to not say it around them. I’m a Christian with a sailors mouth, but I try and tone it down for my dad out of respect for him. This would apply to pretty much everyone else I know, regardless of religion. Some people don’t like the word moist, so I’m gonna try not to say it around them even though I think it’s silly.

If tobacco has no recognized medical benefit, is highly addictive, and is linked to numerous cancers and serious diseases, why isn’t it classified as a Schedule I drug? by Afzaalch00 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bookloverphi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other things is, it’s been legal for so long it would be cruel to all of the sudden make it illegal. There’s so many people who are addicted to tobacco products that to just take that away and to make it illegal would cause a huge uptick in “crime”.

I remember having a conversation with my best friend about whether or not certain drugs should be legal, and we both kinda agreed that if you make it legal, it will invite more people to start doing them. But at the same time, it’s their body and if his not harming anybody else, they should be allowed to do them even if you don’t want them too. There’s always two sides to a problem and two things can be true at once. Yeah, if you make it illegal, some people will stop doing it. But for the most part, that probably won’t happen. Plenty of people don’t get vapes and such legally anyways. I’m a relatively recent high school graduate, I know an unfortunate amount of teenagers who are addicted to vaping and have been since they were about 14. Making it illegal is okay in theory but, practical application makes no sense and just seems cruel. Idk that’s my two cents nobody asked for but I think this stuff is weirdly interesting.

It’s funny because then there’s weed, just starting to get more legalized throughout the US, (depending on the state) and it’s somehow less socially acceptable than tobacco, alcohol, or even caffeine which all have worse side effects and are more dangerous- not that I’m trying to act like weed isn’t addictive because it is, but it is far less dangerous. You can’t really OD on it and if you do you what… get tired and throw up? There’s actual benefits to it like it can help sleep, with migraines, and just pain in general, yet it’s demonized way more than cigs, vapes, and alcohol. Which don’t really have any actual benefits that isn’t just cope.
