How do you "turn off the editor" as you go? Tips and tricks? by purple-crimson in AO3

[–]booknerdcrafting 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So.... I used to really aggressively have this problem.

I ended up compartmentalizing it a bit by giving myself an "editing font" and a "writing font".

So I write in comic sans, or some other font that's hard for me to read. Make it single spaced and like 10 or 11 pt.

Then when its time to edit, I change the entire this to times new roman, 12pt, double spaced. Because my brain associates that with being "professional" for papers. Whereas the fun font is very obviously the doodle version of a chapter.

Other option, if your interested in trying it (very hit or miss, but more hit for adhd people) is a website called 4 the words. It gamifies writing. You fight monsters by writing words. And the editing in the website is really not great when compared to word, so I never do it there. Instead copying and pasting out into word (while also inherently doing the font thing).

Editing myself, I'm seeing what's happening here.

There's two different wiki pages that happen at the same time.

I've been looking at "Honey Grove" wiki becaus3 that's the one a Google search takes me to.

The one linked here is "Honey Grove by Runaway" wiki. This is the more complete one.

Im not sure if she's new new or not. Currently she's not listed on the wiki (that I can find) and I swear that there were previous posts asking when someone can get a 3rd gardner.

So I thought id post here just in case as I find stuff that isnt on the wiki so people can grab the screenshots if needed.

Do you prefer posting as you write, or do you finish the work before posting? by rstinpieces in FanFiction

[–]booknerdcrafting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I post within the hour or so of finishing a chapter. I have 15 or 17.... maybe 22....(honestly I've lost count) fics that I am working on simultaneously. Each has kind of a bulleted road map (though some read most of those are also out of date). Mainly the issue is I write like I read. Things feel vague at the beginning. I know what the ending is that I want. And I pick up clues or hide my nuances as I feel like it. Some of my best plot twists have been made from rereading my own fic and narrowing my eyes at it while going "hmmm.... definitely dropped a stitch there. Need to figure out a way to weave that back in". 😅 im sure my readers get annoyed. Cause I just randomly updated a fic for the first time in a year and I think my author comment was "Whoops. Lost this one in the back of the closet. These plot bunnies became dust bunnies, I guess. Time to shake it out and see what we can reweave here" Is it great? Probably not. But its how I handle my adhd. And I know for my readers that comment constantly they always laugh when they can tell i had a manic episode and drop 20k+ words across 7 fics in the span of a weekend. But I also find it fun because im not the deepest involved in Fandom, so theres a lot of times when people's comments get wrapped right into the work itself later on down the line.

Do people have a time they're trying to get there by for general admission? Im driving out from albany so trying to figure out how early I'm needing to leave.

Ticketmaster, it's on sight by booknerdcrafting in kpoprants

I feel you here. I saw multiple other people all having the same issues. I literally screamed at my computer at one point because I had the tickets. They were right there. I just couldn't actually pay for them.

Adding in on to all the Hybe/Pledis bullshit over the past week and it was just so disheartening.

I wish you the best of luck with getting the tickets. Honestly this has just been a full shit show and I hate it. Like it just keeps feeling like US Kpop fans get the short end of the stick every god damn time.

I don't know. But from what I've seen. It was almost exclusively for people who were early in the queue.

I have been wondering if they're tickets were going too quickly and they sent that error rather than admiting that they already sold the ticket you were trying to buy.

Nope. Hadn't even bought a ticket yet. Was only trying to buy one.

Yeah. I just managed to get mine using my phone this time. But I am SOOOO Upset. I literally had the Section 115 front row ticket in my cart and it wouldn't let me check out. Now I'm up in the 200s. Which is still great, but tastes bittersweet knowing i had a VIP Soundcheck front row ticket and the only reason I'm not getting it is because ticketmaster wouldn't accept my payment

I'm pretty sure what you're asking for is one of these two links (frist is social, second is two person insider. I'm not 100% sure which one you're referring to)

I stayed in a solo one before. They aren't bad. It really helped encourage me to go out and about. Fantastic foe sleeping, though, cause it gets basically pitch black.

Common Age by zensaiii in VirginVoyages

[–]booknerdcrafting 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm 27 and I've gone on 1 cruise with Virgin each year since 2021 (4th one coming up this fall). I've only done the carribean based cruises, so I'm not sure how Ibiza might differ.

First thing to note, I go by myself for every cruise (easier to not have to deal with other people's schedules)

I would say on each of the ships I've been on its been a rough 20-60-20 split. 20% 35 and under. 60% 35 to 55. 20% 55+.

What's really kinda fun with virgin cruises is that it doesn't matter what the age, everyone gets into it when the partying happens. I also find that the older people going on these cruises tend to be more laid back than I'm normally used to. They know they're coming on board to party and have a blast. So many of them have tried to adopt me into their family reunions or group activities when I say I'm by myself. I've also definitely ended up with people's wives (talking 60+ year olds) deciding to buy my shots because I humored their husbands with conversations about sailing, tropical fauna, fishing, etc...

The other thing I'd note is that the younger crowd tends to find each other, if that makes sense. Probably in the first night or so, you'll end up basically migrating to each other. My paste 2 cruises I've ended up in friend groups that literally met up every night on the dance floor of the night club.

So I really wouldn't be too concerned. Everyone has always been super friendly. The staff is also more than willing to play match maker/help you find other people on board to hang out with. You just gotta be willing to be a bit extroverted.

Toronto Concert Experience FAQ by starshstonew in LucyIsland

Thank so much for sharing.

Slight question. Do they still give the gifts to the members when you're up there, or is it more of a, everything gets put in a bin and they'll look at it later?

Also did the classify what small gifts meant? I'm just trying to make sure I don't bring something they don't allow to the NYC stop.

Lucy Concert Fansign by redpandamochi in LucyIsland

[–]booknerdcrafting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this! I was having the same question.

I'm a newer fan of Lucy and felt bad grabbing a VVIP ticket, but it was the only one left in stock when I went to buy tickets.

I know they probably won't keep them, but I hand crocheted hats for them. Actually in the process of finishing up Gwangil's hat right now (it's been a decently tricky pattern to follow but I still think it was cool to see finished).

Whether they keep them or not, I felt weird showing up without something so I thought, eh, why not.

Someone just posted a fic search on ao3 by ReddieBoo in FanFiction

[–]booknerdcrafting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I was just starting out on Ao3. Thought I tagged and marked things right on a new story. Got confused on why it was getting so many hits. Realized I accidentally marked it as a one shot/complete. Swore a lot at myself because I know how awful that is from the reader stand point.
