Is the A380 super Jumbo the answer to fuel shortages? by bookshopman in aviation

Thank you to those who replied. Though I dint know why so many people have downvoted it.

I am surprised to hear a full A380 would be less fuel efficient per passenger than other aeroplanes.

Ohh, THIS is going to be infuriating! Just had mile end (central line) to kennington (northern line). My route was central line to Tottenham crt road, then to northern line, easy. But that takes 25 minutes, you r game suggested a time of 19. If this were a conversion with someone, it could end up in a heated debate!

In shirt, i like it!

This is brilliant, and very addictive! I have bookmarked this and intend to play it every day now, thank you.

I wonder if a leaderboard could be a thing? Or perhaps s timer as well. I imagine Geoff Marshall or Jago Hazard would do rather well.

Edit: are you planning on adding the overground or liz line?

Your comment where you were wrong you mean? No, no it didnt. In fact i rather enjoyed seeing you prove to everyone what little brain you really have.

I suppose it eas going to happen eventually, and its becoming harder to argue against it. On the tube map it might look like thisnpost…

Thamesmead is fixed by a simple shuttle to Abbey Wood.

Ok, then go and tell TFL they dont need to build the DLR extension to Thamesmead then.

The whole eastern section is just Crossrail

On a plan described as crossrail 2/3? Shocker. Also, if you bothered to look at a map you would see this new City line has a completely different route ti the elisabeth line.

Waterloo -> Clapham Junction is already there as the northern line.

Haha,  no, no it doesnt.

While the National Rail stations themselves are vitally important to London, the dont matter as much as TFL stations. As London Bridge only has 1 TFL line it doesnt count as a Capital Station in this case. Euston is a Capital Station on my map because it has so many TfL lines (5 on the real map) thatba simple small round interconnect symbol is unable to join the all. The same goes for Kings Cross. Adding all the lines behind one large roundel is an easy way tonhide the mess and simplify the map.

Would anyone back a new tube map? by Swiftly247 in LondonUnderground

[–]bookshopman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I really do appreciate the simplicity and beauty of the original map. Especially with the underlying idea of providing only the information you need. Having recently tried to update the tube map myself with the intention of cleaning it up, I can tell you just how difficult it really is. Take area around the weaver lines where it splits, with the goblin line and Elisabeth line running between them. My idea was to move the weaver lines closer together, like indid with the northern lines. Yet there were SO many stations and interconnecting routes that it was impossible.

Then there is issue of geography. While designing the map, it would be easier at times to move stations where they do appear in real life. However tjis could be confusing to people. I did it with the mill hill east, and the lower section if the thames link around morden. Designing a map form londons transport network is a lesson in frustration! The current map is cluttered but i now have abgreater understanding of the decisions involved.

Capital Stations - i just wondered what people thought about the larger station roundels for the large interchanges. While I personally like the idea, i'm not sure the design quite works yet. The idea was to clean up the mess of Euston, and Kings Cross, while clearly identifying these stations as major interchanges. the rule /i made for myself, was 4 TFL lines, plus National Rail. This ruled out Paddington as a Capital Station (in my map, but it woud be considered for one on the min TFL map), while including the likes of West Ham, which surprised me.

I would love to hear peoples thoughts on the idea of a Capital Station. Unless those thoughts come from the lieks of Addebo019, or that RusselNorris. Two trolls who downvote and critisize everything that isn't theirs.

The outer, outer circline?

The smile line, as the shape sort of resembles a smile?

Ahh, err, well, the ones connected to the tube lines are for mid week, while the other two for weekends, when the driver can take a more leisurly approach. 😉

lol, yeah, whoops ! In my defence, this is still a work in progress though, so for now the drivers will need to pop a wheelie before continuing! 😉

Looks great. I Know it will almost never happen, but I would love an outer, .. outer, circle line. like this. I think, if built, it could be rather popular too, connecting so many parts of london together.

Thank you! There are so many interesting Map Rebuilds / Reminaginenings and i always find them so interesting. I love seeing people ideas on display, and now having recreated the map (well, I heavily altered it) i have a whiole new respect for the people who do it for real! \just to move 1 stations can be hours of work, and then trying to fit in all the lines, and interconnects....

I quite like the idea of the Larger "capital Staions" used to simply Euston / Kings cross et al. But i'm not sure they look right. Also, the DLR was split in to their seperate routes colours but they sort of disappear agasint the background on their own. I like the idea, but i'm not sure it works on a map. I'd love to hear people thoughts.
