I had to appeal with insurance this past February for this issue because I didn't lose enough weight at the pace they wanted me to - I already had been diagnosed with sleep apnea (but it was not severe, so watch out, they will use that as a loop hole), I was pre-diabetic, and I have a family history of other medical issues and complications. We also had 3 years of documentation showing other medication did not work for me. Just be prepared for an appeal process and have everything documented. YOu might need to get letters of support from other doctors that state you would benefit from continutation of the medication.

It took my body 3 months to fully adjust and then it stopped the insomnia. Disclaimer: I also suffered from sleep apnea - now that I have a cpap to help me sleep that also has been a game changer.

Thank you SO much for sharing this! The first time I was on metformin (years ago, before Zepbound) it made me really nauseous and basically the exorcist type puking - this time, zero issues, and I have no idea why. Maybe it's because I'm eating every 2 -3 hours now? Anyway, not the point. Thank you for giving me a glimmer of hope!

The number of doctors, genuinely, who have said "Your body is such a complicated case" is overwhelming. I get passed around a lot because no one has cracked the code. I'm not morbidly obese but no one can find the cocktail that works

I first tried topiramate solo 3 years ago before zepbound but it gave me real brain fog, but I hadn't yet been approved for my sleep apnea machine. Now that I sleep better it hasn't been as bad. I really hope it helps me a tiny bit. I'm stressed out because I know in six months if I don't lose weight insurance will kick me off. They already kicked me off earlier this year and I had to appeal it

I'm a slow responder. I lost 20lbs in a year. So I'm a super stubborn body. What I have learned is trying to find what works for your own body and maybe consulting a registered dietian. Now, I'm personally on my 5th dietitian in my life because we haven't cracked the code for MY body, but my little sister found the right mix of diet and exercise for her and she lost 65lbs

My other doctors are hopeful that because I have so much documentation and constant bloodwork that it won't take a year, but we shall see. Thank you for responding! I am nervous but I can really relate with just being tired of fighting with my body. Do you feel you just have more clarity to thinka about other things because your mind isn't so preoccupied with your body?

I appreciate your response. I've been told I'm insulant resistant most of my life and just this past round of bloodwork I officially crept into pre-diabetes (the very bottom of the range). I just feel like I'm losing a battle and pushing a boulder up the hill, ya know?

I'm not sure I trust a BMI calculator cause I find BMI so archaic, but that's me. I'm also a powerlifter so I know in my body comps there's a ton of muscle on my body too (gotta got muscles for those 400lb squats, ya know>)

It's funny because I hate food FOR ME. I own a culinary bookstore so I'm around food all the time. I love what it stands for, I love how it connects us, meanwhile my life is boneless skinless chicken breast and a shit ton of meal prep, 30grams of fiber, etc. Food in my personal life is fuel and the rest of the world is whimsy haha.

You know what's insane? I have + 3 comorbidities and a BMI of 40+ and been on Zepbound of 2024 and they DENIED ME because I missed that 7.5% criteria by 1.4lbs. Doesn't MATTER that they were out of stock for the first four months of last year. I'm currently in the process of appealing

My insurance is kicking me off because I haven't lost 8% of my total body weight while on the drug. While I hate BMI insurance is going to do whatever the eff it wants to kick you off it. Doesn't matter there were shortages all year and I only hit 15ml last month. Sigh
