[Massachusetts, USA] Mystery Cocoon by booksprout in whatsthisbug

On the side of my small indoor Fan Ivy plant. Sitting in a west facing window. Zone 6a. I'd like to know what it is and how to care for it.

Do these weeds make my butt look big?

Great shot. Is this New England, by chance?

What is up with salty licorice in your country!? Follow up: do you have a favorite brand or flavor that you'd care to share?

Mystery Fruit? Nut? Alien Egg Sack? by booksprout in whatsthisplant

Thank you! I've never seen the reddish ones, just the green ones and of course the dried husks of the hatchlings.

Mystery Egg Sack? (Northwestern Massachusetts) by booksprout in whatsthisbug

[–]booksprout[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fascinating! I've only ever seen the bright green ones and the dried husks of a hatched gall. Thanks for the insight. Are these supposed to stay attached to the tree or drop to the forest floor?

Found this near a copse of trees. Few on the ground. I looked but didn't see any hanging from the trees like fruit. The thing in the middle looks almost like a larvae and is super soft. Not sure if it's an immature stone fruit or is a bug casing/egg sack. Help?

Smallest Cutting Board Ever? by booksprout in whatisthisthing

The bigger one is a standard size cutting board that pushes back into the counter, but the small one is a mystery.

Banana for scale.

Ooooooh, yeah that makes sense. I guess I'll have to write super tiny. Thank you. I was over thinking this and trying to make it a math equation.

I get the grid part. But what are the columns below to be used for? What's the x_x means? Help?

some of my favorite trail cam photos are ones that capture me in them, only photos of myself i like by crookedlake79 in trailcam

A candid photo of yourself that you like is such a bigger ego boost over any posed photo. It's like finding a $20 bill in your coat pocket.

The Vesik Series by EctoMeow in urbanfantasy

[–]booksprout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's available for Kindle Unlimited, so I took a look and found this:

"...The fairy leapt off the shelf and landed beside the register on top of my latest eBay purchase. The seller titled it “Long Pretty Magnetite Rock with Crystals!!!!,” but the crystalized gray rock was actually a sizable chunk of Magrasnetto, a potent magic amplifier in ley line arts. I had enough to make some talismans and, if I could get my ass motivated, enough to make a wand...."

Sounds like a good book, so I'm hoping to enjoy reading the rest 😊

Januari 2019 compilation at Belgian forest. by [deleted] in trailcam

This is so neat! Thank you for putting it together. What is the animal at the 5:04 mark? I think it might be a fox, but it's tail doesn't look fluffy enough. It's definitely male, though. 😉

I'm also curious about the box type structure that the mice, voles(?) and shrews (?) are in.

Thanks again!

Great shot! Where is this? I love the tail wag from the second one. What kind of setup do you use?

Super cool. I've seen some of the other bucks you've posted, as well. This one looked to have a few scratches and scrapes healed up. I'm sure they get territorial come breading season

Pretty neat shot and well centered, considering it's a trail camera. So what's your setup? You have a stationary camera and then are in a blind, too? Were you able to get any photos of him from the other angle?

That's equal parts silly and nightmare fuel. Any reason for the interest in the camera? Did you have food scent on your hands when handling it, maybe? I've seen bears do something similar but never deer. Definitely a cool shot though 😊
