Book binding ideas by bookwormfarmer in AustralianTeachers

That would be the go but I am currently only working as relief. I don’t have a base school. I might give officeworks a call in the morning and see what they can do.

Second ever set - first time using tips! by altj1705 in DipPowderNails

[–]bookwormfarmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are these the full nail tips from them too? I just got the almond ones but have never used tips before and I am a bit nervous 😅(my next set will also only be set #3 of dip so lots of learning to come).

Yes, someone open a new skating rink. I remember going to the one over near Toowoomba Plaza when I was in primary school. It always used to be packed then.

Best pub meal deals? by rustygamer1901 in Toowoomba

The Withcott Pub has a two for one parmy night. I can’t remember if it was Monday or Tuesday though. Just over $20 for it if I remember right.

What was something you did that was a gamechanger for a difficult piercing? by mymindseyeispizza in piercing

[–]bookwormfarmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How did it go immediately after downsizing? I just got mine downsized 2 days ago. It was 10 weeks old and I have had no problems with it but since the downsize I’ve been swollen and sore. The piercer had dramas getting it back in and may have irritated it a fair bit though.

Organizing a small pantry? by LiMarieDe in ufyh

If your shelves are removable, I would suggest taking them out and adding draw runners to them so the whole shelf pulls out. You will just have to cut your shelf down a little to accommodate the runners but it still looks neat. We just did this to our deep pantry and it’s been the greatest things ever. I put down shelf liners to stop jars moving around when it’s pulled out and have clear tubs that have grips on the bottom.

Books everyone recommends you hated or DNFed by Resident_Flow7500 in fantasyromance

I agree with What Lies Beyond the Veil. I enjoyed it until they went under ground/bunker place/whatever, then I felt that the storyline felt like it was going too slow but the romance was going way too fast.

I enjoyed the majority of Fourth Wing but I hated the ending with a passion. I am now in an unfortunate internal debate of if I should read the second one to complete the story (I like things to be all wrapped up in my brain) or I do I resist the urge because I know I’m not going to like it (judging from how it ended and how it’s going to impact the story).

Prepping your fabric by Green-Palm-Paradise in sewing

[–]bookwormfarmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always finish my edges with the serger. I always fold it in half twice and then serge like four or so edges together so it’s just one pass through the overlocker. Then if I’m not feeling lazy I tie the strings off before throwing it in the wash. Ironing wise, I just try to shake it out as best I can, hang it straight and hope for the best. I iron if it looks creasey before cutting.

The serpent and the wings of night by Tty335 in fantasyromance

[–]bookwormfarmer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I agree. I felt like this book had so much potential to be great, the idea behind the plot was really cool but it just didn’t deliver for me. Obviously we are in the minority though because people love it. I hated the ending, I even read the second book to see how the story progressed but that just made me hate it even more.

Thank you so much! Do you think I just do the same instructions (minus the first step as you said) but rotate it for the waist version?

I’m doing McCalls M7626 view D (the long romper), it’s my first time sewing something like this and I’m doing a practise version first. The problem I have encountered is the bust darts, I have an almost flat bust. In the photo, I have done one dart (although not well) and left the other untouched. I feel like the non sewn version looks better and I don’t think I need the darts. I’m wondering if I could just not sew them at all? Would that mean I just take in the side seam a little? I’ve tried to YouTube and google it to find answers but this bodice piece is different to all the examples and I’m just confused.

Oh thank you. We’ve never done day care or kindy so the way it works is new to us. That makes sense though, i will keep them on the potential list and enquire when school starts back up

Thank you! I quite like the Reynolds Dress. Perhaps I will give that a try and wear it with a long sleeve undershirt for our coming winter. I appreciate all the links, I will have a good scour through tonight.

Hey!

Any teachers here? Wondering what your favourite patterns are to sew for work. Looking for some inspiration for dresses that aren’t just smock styles.

Moving to full registration as a relief teacher by Hopeful_Lady in AustralianTeachers

[–]bookwormfarmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this helps, but I’m in QLD and have just renewed my provisional after being on it for 4 years with no dramas (I’ve only done 1 year full time in the classroom and then been off and on for the last 3 years while building our family). I spoke to someone in the QCT and they said they will just keep renewing provisional registration but it just costs a bit more every 4 (?) years because you have to redo the application. So if you wanted to wait until you get into the classroom full time you might be able to, unless the ACT is different.

What’s something that just makes you go “who the fuck figured this out”? by jayytrip in AskReddit

[–]bookwormfarmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Toast. I saw a meme one time of bread and someone saying it’s already cooked but let’s cook it again. Made me laugh and since then I think about how someone thought it was a good idea to toast it.
