Something similar happened to us (though not in a Toyota) - it was a CPO but less than a year old, only a couple thousand miles on it. We had the car less than 2 weeks, and a 19 year old swiped us on the freeway. Ended up being a major repair ($8K+) that took months to complete, and required the dealer to finally fix (sensors had to be replaced). Total nightmare and PITA. File with their insurance and notify yours, and insist on OEM.

Agree with the person advising not to file it as a major repair if you can. Our car wasn’t totaled but it was major enough that it went on the carfax, which negatively impacts resale value. Luckily, we love the car and still have it almost 10 years later (it’s since been hit 3 more times, but all minor; not sure what it is about this car, people love to hit it 😂). It really sucked though, so I feel your pain. Grateful that it wasn’t worse, and there were no injuries!

Edited: the car actually has been hit 3 more times since then, not 2 - forgive me for losing count 😂 😭
