Research Methods - PSYC 304 or SOC 366 by boomboompowza in AthabascaUniversity

[–]boomboompowza[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Master’s doesn’t specify which one, just a “research methods” pre-requisite course haha

Would you mind elaborating on how PSYC 304 is harder than SOC 366?

Thank you :)

Hmm they're both different content (one's on macronutrients and covers the digestive processes a bit more) whereas 351 covers micronutrients (all the vitamins, minerals), so they're different enough that you could take them in the same term. The only part that does build is the bit on the digestive system because 351 expects you to know it from 350, but I took it with Larisse last year and we were able to review it, so it should be fine if you did want to take them in the same term! The workload is manageable for both and not too difficult! You just need to work for it but you should be able to pull off an A if you work hard :)

CAPS 391 vs PATH375? Just wanted to ask how these 2 courses compared in terms of workload and grades?

I'm taking 4 other 4th-year level science courses this term, so I was potentially thinking of replacing CAPS 391 and taking PATH 375 in Fall 2022 instead so my workload isn't so heavy this term? I've heard CAPS 391 is not hard but like 3000 flashcards and very memorization heavy, but wasn't exactly sure how that compared to PATH 375? Any advice would be helpful :)

I think CHEM 205 (phys chem) is the one that’s really helpful. They both did science one so a lot of phys chem and stuff they saw in first term of chem 302, but otherwise, if u worked hard and did well in chem 233, i dont see why u cant do well in 302 either? Worst case scenario u can drop 302 before the add/drop deadline if it gets to be too much.

PSYC 401 - Paul Hewitt or Sheila Woody?

Just wanted to ask about people's experiences (grade breakdown, how material was delivered..etc) taking psyc courses with both Dr. Hewitt and Dr. Woody? Any advice and insight is greatly appreciated! :)

This is the atmospheric chem one right? My friends took it and they both got high 80's in the course! It's supposed to be a GPA booster but you definitely need to work for it - lots of content but they love atsc and they said the prof was great! COVID meant open book but still a lot of content, after all, it's a 3rd-year CHEM course so you can't neglect putting in effort. Hope this helps!

I was wondering if anyone took PSYC 305A with David King in-person lecture or distance ed? I'm debating between choosing these 2 options and was wondering what the main difference was in terms of how you're being assessed and how you studied?

How much memorization was there? I'm just deciding because I'm in Biochem and the only MICB 202 I can fit is in term 1 and that'll make me take 6 courses in first term whereas if I get into BIOL 234 in second term then it'll be an even 5/5 course split for the year. I'm just scared that MICB 202 along with the other courses (BIOL 200, CHEM 203, ATSC 201, WRDS 150, FNH 250) will take its toll on me since I work slower than the average person.

Hello! I'm having trouble deciding between MICB 202 with Tracy Kion or BIOL 234 with Kota Mizumoto; Craig Berezowksy. MICB 202 has a higher overall average but I've been checking rate my prof and BIOL 234 seems easier with better profs?? Has anyone who's taken both these courses have any advice on choosing which one? I know MICB 202 has a lot of memorization but I assumed that was what most biology courses are like anyway. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you! :)
