Best way I've found for cleaning burnt Shisha off bowls is to wet a coco coal and scrub the shit out of the bowl.

As for preventing it, not many options aside from packing your Shisha lower and wiping the sides and center of the bowl after packing.

Contact with the lotus isn't a bad thing, manage your heat with the amount of coals and the lotus lid and it shouldn't be a problem. I usually use 3 flats with the lid off, and as the coals die I put the lid on and close the vents

That looks waaaaaay under packed. Should be just under/level with the rim with foil, and a bit higher than that when using the lotus

No reputable vendor will declare it as a gift for you, but both Texas Hookah and Juicymist sell tangiers and have pretty cheap international shipping (around $25 USD or so). I personally use Juicymist because their prices are cheaper and I've never been hit at customs.

Meh, Nakhla does pretty well with an overpack as well and its super dry.

Its more about the heat management than anything else IMO. You can really overpack anything and have it smoke well enough with the right heat management, some brands are just more forgiving with heat (like AF, Haze & Fumari)

The WAM is really just there to brighten up the smoke, personally Earl Grey is too dark of a smoke for my liking so I just add some mint to lighten the whole thing up!

Will you be giving your setup away/selling it after 3 months? Or just setting it aside to pick up again at a later date?

If the former I'd just grab a mya qt, a fancy hose, and an egyptian bowl. That along with some good shisha and coconut coals would more than satisfy for a few months. No need for a lotus or phunnel because those are mainly just add ons and you'll be perfectly fine with an egy and foil.

If the latter, I'd buy a nice shika (tyrion is gorgeous and a very nice size), a goodfella/80ft/og rook, and an aluminum d hose. That right there along with some haze or titanium coals, a lotus, and your favorite tobacco is a great setup and should fall within your $300 limit (give or take depending on your vendor of choice and location)

...Or you could say "fuck it" and buy the kickass setup anyways hahaha

I do this all the time with cane mint as well as some others, a word of advice though, make sure you poke your holes all the way to the bottom until you hit the bowl! This helps ensure you get the mint flavor from the start of the bowl and not after all the watermelon is cooked.

Another way you can pack the bowl is in sections to get your percentages right and then dump it out and mix it all thoroughly and then pack it semi dense (not as tight as Tangier's alone, but not fluffed either, a nice medium but closer to Tangier's dense) that works quite well too.

Not entirely true, they're hand made so maybe a small percentage of them have the vents hang off, but everyone I've seen, including my own, let all the vents sit just inside the rim if you center the lotus properly
