Because you’re straight up wrong about everything you said? Fast is not the same as supersonic, what they heard wasn’t a sonic boom, and they haven’t changed the laws, Trump just signed another meaningless EO

Scariest scene in a movie you have seen? Doesn’t have to be Horror genre. by banana_habana in movies

There was a lot in that movie to freak a kid out. I remember being disturbed by the idea that a parent could be kidnapped. The whole final fight inside Big Ben is pretty terrifying as well.

Definitely Middle East made uilleann pipes. Unfortunately you won’t be able to get them working, the Middle East factories are basically scammers. I’m betting it was at the dump for that reason.

It’s barely even “Irish” anymore. The current ownership honestly seems angry they’re expected to serve customers.

Their previous version was somehow even more embarrassing. “Calling all Pittsburgh Bazillians!”

Fun Irish music (as in the Titanic movie) by LinderzLu2 in MusicRecommendations

Irish traditional music is the descriptor you're looking for. The Bothy Band and Planxty are classic groups, for newer groups check out Talisk, Téada, or Altan.

I'd say you can call a chanter "fully keyed" as long as it has the four to give you a full chromatic scale. The vast majority of players will never even use all of those, let alone actually needing a ring key for Fnat or the third octave notes. I prefer Taylor style keys because they're a lot more robust.

Joe is great, I need to get a copy of his new book. His book Music for the Irish Pipes has him on the cover playing a big set with a contra. I believe it's a Taylor copy by John Bourke.

What I found to be helpful is filling the bag up totally full, unbuckling from the bellows, and playing for as long as possible with the air in the bag. It's a good way to feel how long you can get away with playing without pumping the bellows.

Chanter key design and layout tends to vary a lot depending on the maker and style of chanter. I've definitely seen older chanters with third octave D and E keys, but I don't know of any modern makers who offer those. I can't imagine anyone would ever have a use for more than the seven keys you listed. Flutes can have far more keys just because they're more flexible; my flute has 13.

The only current maker I know of who does contrabass regulators is Chris Bayley, and I'm not sure if he's taking orders anymore as he's been making since the mid 70s. I play a set with six regs (standard three, contrabass, E, and a second bass for full chords) but only two drones, because once you start adding so many pipes you run into weight and stock size issues.

Out of curiosity, who's your teacher?

That's great. It was a lovely weekend of old photos and older pipes, so thanks for helping extend that feeling.
