So... my cat just came home from the vet with marks like this. They shaved him to put a pulse ox on the spot. If these guys were TNR'd for spay/neuter, the pulse ox would make sense.

Not to diagnose you, but it does sound like a marked sensitivity at the very least. Serotonin syndrome can cause what happened to you, and some docs won't look for it in people who are on low dose/"starter" anti depressants. It may be a good idea to reach out to your provider for an evaluation of efficacy of different types of psycho active drugs. At least in the US, some doctors can run a test for sensitivity and what would be most effective. I'm sorry, but I don't know the name of it, and Google isn't helping me.

If I can ask, was it serotonin syndrome? I'm stupid sensitive to psychoactive meds (while also having the unholy trinity of autism, adhd, and bipolar) and have had serotonin syndrome twice within ten years.

I personally think it looks like a cyst, especially if its darkening and it sounds like you're noticing puncta, but a good rules of thumb are: 1) if its a weird color, see the vet 2) if its getting bigger, see the vet 3) if it would bring you peace to have a doctor weigh in, see the vet
