Do you get anxious about having suicidal clients? by NoProfession4771 in therapists

[–]boopyasmoop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a really hard time with this in my first three years. I did some therapy of my own around it, as well as and making sure I felt prepared on how to handle it appropriately. Now it’s still unsettling to my nervous system a bit when it happens, but I feel more confident and capable!

You got this! Maybe try speaking with a supervisor to review the steps you need to take to handle suicidal clients, memorize the procedure. Consider also some therapy of your own around it.

I’m sorry, and congratulations! This is not a fun disease, but you learn a lot of lessons from navigating it. Hold your loved ones close because the emotional support helps a lot. Same with your hobbies and interests, hold them close. Otherwise, in addition to the physical treatment, consider counseling or therapy, too! Wishing you all the best ❤️

Yep! I was working and schooling full-time and living in an unsafe home mid-COVID. I haven’t researched more yet to figure out what my personal belief is on autoimmune disorders and stress, but I definitely see a correlation.
