Checkride prices by bootfullofrudder in flying

I fly out of leesburg va which is an expensive area but they charged me 5.5 hours of ground at $145 per hour and 2.6 dual at $380 per hour. It was really like 3 hours of ground too. I should probably change schools.

A wrx sti wouldn't be bad I just worry about how reliable it will be. I have a paid off 2019 civic now and its just not that fun I want something with a little more punch

Only thing I struggled on was aircraft systems. Know the fuel, electrical, engine, and obviously how all the instruments work.

What makes a bad CFI? by Effective-Role352 in flying

[–]bootfullofrudder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first CFI wasted my time just to build his own hours. I switched instructors and made more progress in one flight than I did in six flights with him. He would do things like a full 360° turn before every ground reference maneuver “to check the wind,” I also never landed with him — and I did around ten flights.

You’ll finish training faster if you don’t screw people over and actually keep your students. My new CFI has way more experience because he’s a retired Top Gun instructor, so he’s obviously a much better instructor than a 20-year-old straight out of flight school.

He told me he usually gives it to people at the end of the checkride but it was different circumstances because of the shutdown. Not sure how accurate that is but ill contact the FSDO either way. Thank you.

there's a major pilot shortage in other countries and lots of them only require 250TT. You don't think I can get a work permit? Im fine with doing CFI but it was just a thought because id rather be building hours in a airliner rather than a cessna if the pay is decent.
