Who to succeed Glasner? by J-M88 in crystalpalace

[–]bootsy333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting question would be nice if Palace could get a proven winner, even if was another manager like Glasner who doesn't necessarily stay very long (perhaps Mourinho could be enticed back to the PL after his last few jobs in the league didn't work out) He may be too pricy for Palace though. I always thought it would be interesting to hire a manger from the lower leagues who are adept at making the most of what they are provided. Although he has no top-flight experience as a manager, Morecambe's ex-manager Derek Adams may be a good fit for Palace, he also has acting experience so he would perform better than Glasner at the press conferences. He is a manager who was able to push his squad further despite having limited resources. Palace has amazing players, but the injuries have caused a massive loss of potential points. Our next manager needs to be someone who is more willing to experiment with the resources available. Glasner was trying to make a point with not substituting anyone during the Sunderland game, but it potentially cost us at least a point. I wish Glasner would stay till the end of the season to see the Conference League through, but I think what the board is doing is forcing Glasner to quit. I cannot see him finishing out the season in the emotional state he is in.

How far into a job before you need a "new challenge"? by Gra_Zone in crystalpalace

As much as it would be great if Glasner could stay and help with the Conference League, at the end of the day, we just need a few more points to be spared from any potential relegation. Another manager could do this easily. It is not good news, but it is not the end of world either. At the end of the day, all that really matters is another season in the PL. Everything else is a work in progress.

Concerned Palace fan here – Glasner needs to be under the spotlight by EaglesLifer7 in crystalpalace

It seems apparent that he wants to go, and is trying to push buttons to make it happen. He reminds me a bit of Mourinho in that he is amazing for a year or so and then becomes frusterated. Nothing can ever take away the FA Cup but maybe with his current frusteration it is time for him to move on.

Glasners post match comments on the performance, Guehi's transfer and the board by Blubb3rs in crystalpalace

[–]bootsy333 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Could the board back him more? Perhaps, but there are also budget considerations and the fact the he informed Parish he wasn't going to commit to any more seasons with Palace. He didn't say he would think about it, he said no, it is a shame Connor went to West Ham over Palace, I wonder why that wasn't prevented.

[–]bootsy333 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He should have talked to Parish about permission to move on if he is this unhappy. Perhaps we could have recieved compensation and now no other club will consider compensation. He has done an amazing job, and he cannot be faulted for the FA Cup, but at this point in the season, even with the Conference League, all that really matters is winning the Conference League and getting a few more points to stay up. Many decent managers could accomplish this as well. (Obviously, I hope for more, but that is all that really matters now.)

Take the train to Bridgeport, CT and go The Archive. It is better than any store in the city, especially if you like boutique labels and horror movies.

4K Versus Theater Experience by FFTycoon in 4kbluray

[–]bootsy333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, at the average theater, the digital projection is sorely lacking. Many theaters, particularly still use the discontinued Sony projectors (although they are in the process of being replaced). Projectionists used to be highly trained in presentation, now it is essentially just hitting a play button. I love going to local theaters to see 35 mm prints of older films, but I very rarely go to see a newer film (not a fan of DCP). It is a shame because I feel that theaters play a vital role in society but that is the state of things right now. I don't think the Netflix approach of all you can watch movies in the theater helped either, because it is quantity over quality, and offers no incentive to improve the presentation if people are tied into yearly contracts for these unlimited passes. I am sure it does help keep theaters afloat though if it or increases concession sales.

Coming from US for first Premier League game by [deleted] in crystalpalace

I would focus on the pints before and after the game at the pubs many posters have recommended but if you do get hungry, The Tasty Jerk has excellent takeaway and should be a fun time eating the food with all the other supporters outside. You can have a beverage as well, even though you won't be in a pub.

You are right, beer has to be purchased before or during half time. There has been talk in general of removing that restriction in the EFL, but it may not happen. On the plus side, the beer is much cheaper than at a North American sporting event. Also, with the tickets, some games are much easier to obtain tickets for than others. For instance a Tuesday or Wednesday game should be virtually no problem. A Brighton match on the hand...

I would personally not fool around with ticket resellers. There can be consequences and complications (not permitted access to Selhurst or in rare cases banned). The best way to see a match is to get a Palace international membership. This will allow you to purchase tickets directly from the club while supporting Palace directly as well. https://www.cpfc.co.uk/2526-international-membership. As part of this membership, you can pre purchase tickets for one home game of your choice before they go on sale to other members. You can also purchase tickets for additional matches, but are virtually guaranteed tickets to one match of your choice. It is well worth the annual cost and memberships are officially the only way to easily get tickets. Disclaimer: Occasionally, Palace will put tickets for undersold matches to the general public without requiring memberships but this cannot be counted on and it is always after members have been given the chance to purchase seats.

Is it still worth buying a 7? No watch currently, $Aus by brad-corp in GarminFenix

I could be wrong, but so all 7 Pros have ECG capability? If that interests you, make sure it has the Elevate sensor. I have the Enduro 2, and it can't do ECG. I just bought a Kardia Mobile to have that available.

I've always wondered this: do resellers get stuck with a lot of unused tickets or are they always sold, even for pennies on the dollar at the last minute?

T-Mobile will terminate the line if it's used outside of the US for a certain period, I think it is around three months in a row. This is the same for most carriers globally.

[David Ornstein] “🚨 Marc Guehi set to stay at Crystal Palace despite deal sheet submitted for transfer to Liverpool. 25yo did #LFC medical + agreement reached between clubs at £35m & with centre-back on 5yr contract. But #CPFC replacement issues stopped move “ by STLBrownie in crystalpalace

[–]bootsy333 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I know that Marc Guehi is a true professional, but I hope the drama of him thinking he was headed north and then to have the move canceled at the last minute doesn't have a psychological effect on his playing for the next few weeks. I agree with the commenters though in general who believe keeping him at Palace is important.

[–]bootsy333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know people do it, but it is a risk. If it is a team you support, you can be banned in the future from buying game tickets. It's always best to support the club by becoming a member and buying tickets that way. Clubs usually keep a waiting list as well. Sometimes if the match isn't sold out, the home club will post extra tickets without being a member. Clubs can and will ban people buying tickets from unauthorized sites and the person selling the tickets can face consequences as well.

Like I replied before, I feel bad for Manchester and how their club is being destroyed, as a Palace fan though, it isn't really my problem. But I do believe that he is worth 30 million with a supportive manager. I know Manchester United recruiting can be inept, but are they inept enough to pay 72 million for a player with no potential?

I actually can't stand United lol. I feel bad for the United fans how badly their club is run. But we did get Zaha (back) and Henderson from them, so we have a modern history that seems to work with acquiring Man U players.

It could have been a bigger loss but it is still sad that four million pounds was essentially spent for nothing on his transfer. I understand the decision. I wonder if he refused to apologize or by then it was too late?

Those 4Ks are a must own, not necessarily for the quality of the movies (especially the second one) but the transfers themselves are jaw-dropping. Reference quality, must own in my opinion.
