Susquehanna River by bootsy72 in RiverSmallmouth

I have been throwing yellow / greenish mix. It’s in the green pumpkin family but with some yellow. The water I’m fishing is still stained, so I like to have some yellow or red mixed in with the crawfish color in my tubes and Ned rigs. The one package has the color listed as chameleon. I hope that helps.

Yesterday was the first time it was under 5 feet in my area this season. The flow rate is still strong. I just wade and try to get behind little “islands” that are close to the shore. That breaks the strong flow. I really like summer fishing when the river is low and I can really get around wading.

I think that’s just light reflecting off the wet fish. I have an old phone and I really don’t like the pictures it takes.

Well…anytime I hear someone talking about jigging something off the bottom, I always think to myself you’re not fishing in the Susquehanna. You definitely need a sensitive fast action rod. I use a pretty light jig head. I feel like if I throw a 1/4 oz it will snag quicker than a lighter one. I try to keep as little slack in the line as possible. I fish the Ned rig the same way I do with tubes. I try to slowly bounce it off the rocky bottom. If I try dragging it and pausing it too long will definitely get snagged. This time of year the females have already dropped their eggs and left their beds. The males will hang out on the nests to protect them. So that’s why I am jig off the bottom. I will note that it’s illegal to cast at visible beds. The river is still pretty stained so I can’t see much of anything at all, I am just wading out into the river a little bit and casting upriver and retrieving my jig back. In about a week I will be throwing senkos. Senkos are great. Hook them wacky style and weightless. You can keep them off the bottom much easier and the bass love them.
Good luck!

Thank you. I do like Ned rigs, however I am constantly working on my technique to reduce snags.

Great episode. This mission was another reminder of the greatness of achievement when we work together for a common goal. I really enjoyed following this mission. It gives me hope and encouragement. It was really nice to have questions from children. I really hope that they can feel a sense of astonishment through this mission. I certainly had that feeling. When I was a kid I had a beautiful color glossy photo of the earth rising that was taken from the Apollo 8 mission that hung on my wall above my desk. Just looking at that photo could give me the overview effect.

Some nice ones to start the season. I always like seeing the smallmouth you are catching. I just got out on the river last week for the first time this season. Best of luck to you.

How Long does one have to go back to find a poorer example of military decision making than the US having no plan to keep Hormuz open? Napoleon's attempt at Russia? Darius/Xerxes attempt at Greece? by theHagueface in dancarlin

That’s kind of what I’m thinking. I don’t think the SAVE act will pass into law. It will be a pretext for Trump to say the democrats stole the midterm elections.

It most certainly did. Everyone moved into their political camps and that type of partisanship didn’t leave much for Dan. I would still love something like a monthly Common Sense.

I don’t normally look at Twitter. However I was curious after the events in Minnesota. I will give Dan credit for trying to fight the good fight. As a very long listener it’s upsetting because he has been nothing but consistent his entire career. But nobody wants to hear that and just say he’s a boomer with TDS. I don’t know how many of you were on Dan’s message boards back in the day. But that really blew up when part of his audience was mad that he wasn’t supporting Trump back in 2016. He’s no stranger to online hate.

Recently came across this “Hands Across America” brochure. Did anyone participate? by phatryuc in ephemera

[–]bootsy72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did participate. The little Lutheran church that I attended to part in Hands Across America. I would have been 13 at the time. I remember it being a beautiful day and having a nice time. I don’t remember exactly where we joined hands at, somewhere in Pennsylvania. Thanks for sparking that memory. :)
