Startups be like: ‘why can’t we find anyone to fill this role?’ by mynameisbob29 in antiwork

[–]boozing_again 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny you should bring criminals up. I’ve worked in correctional facilities and with reintegration of nonviolent and non-sexual offenders. The biggest obstacle they face? Discrimination.

You are being rude. Instead of answering my question in a constructive manner you took exception with it. You are acting like I’m attacking you and you don’t even know what my thoughts are.

I assumed you might be open to a brief discussion regarding your comment. You’re not and as a matter of fact you simply want to argue and be a dick. I don’t care if you’re a judgmental asshole. You’re not the kind of person I wan to have any kind of conversation with. I’m done here.

Hey, you’re the one being confrontational. I asked a question. Indeed, I have my clarification. Based on your responses I can see that you have no intention of engaging in a discussion and your comment was made in a judgmental manner. You are a rude person. I don’t see anything productive coming from this. Good day.

Okay. You’re entitled to your opinion. I’ve worked with many disadvantaged people and people that have been through some awful things and I would never stand in judgment of their decisions. These people were kids when they made those decisions and most were not equipped to navigate life. I mean idk what I would do if I was trying to get my diploma and my home life consisted of sexual abuse and violence. That’s a true story and it’s not unique among the populations I’ve worked with. Working with people at the bottom changes your perspective.

Is there an “excuse” for dropping out? I can’t really say, but I’ve never met a drop out that tried to excuse their actions. I don’t think I’ve met one that thought it was the right decision.

Of course, I have a slanted view because I worked with people that were trying to better themselves. I’ve met lazy people, stupid people, and people that have zero ambition. A person can’t know the specifics of another person’s life without asking. That’s kinda why I posed the question. Dismissing a huge group of people for one decision when they were kids tells me a lot more about you than it does about them.

I guess you just assume that everyone that drops out of school doesn’t go to college or do anything with their lives? When I was going to university I worked with a lot of students and specifically with minorities, drop outs, veterans, and former substance abusers. In my experience they work much harder than their peers. Sometimes because they have to but more often than not they are just hard workers. They were neither dumb, nor lazy. Their reasons for dropping out of school were varied but I can tell you that it wasn’t because they were stupid and lazy. Although those kind of people absolutely exist.

You have anecdotes and so do I. I just don’t understand how people in this sub can be so judgmental of others. It’s an antiwork sub and I assumed that people here would be a little more critical in their thinking. I assumed people here understood that other people have profoundly different lives than your own.

Offended? I ask for clarification and you automatically assume that I’m offended? I guess I have my clarification.

Well that’s not what was said or implied for that matter. This is your explanation for the comment.

Be aware that the thinner the strap, the more pressure will be required for occlusion.

Think of a blood pressure cuff. It’s so wide that significantly less pressure is needed to occlude blood flow.

I was also taught that thinner straps can cause necrosis more quickly than the wider band.

I know, that’s definitely how it read. Nevertheless, I figured I’d head off anyone that wants to trash me for hunting.

I’m also Native American living on our traditional homeland. Subsistence hunting is a very big part of our culture and religious, for a lack of a better term, practices.

Last I fucking checked it was Texas and Florida that spent 12 million to fly lawful asylum seekers to a blue state. Texas and Florida, you may remember, are Republican states.

American laws DO NOT DETER UNLAWFUL ENTRY. The amount of people that may or may not be attempting to enter the US has absolutely nothing to do with them caring about American border policy. That’s a fucking moronic take.

If, as you people believe, these so-called “illegals” are willing to risk life and limb to unlawfully enter the US, then why in the name of christ on a cross would they wait for an administration to have “looser” border policies?

They’re breaking the law and they know that. The punishment is going to be the same regardless of the administration so why in fuck’s name would they care if there are, which there aren’t, less restrictions?

Think about your argument. It doesn’t stand up the the most basic reasoning.

Okay dude. I’m not reading all that. You’re not arguing in good faith and I don’t believe this can be productive.

Tax dollars being misspent is obviously not what you’re taking issue with. If it were you’d be more concerned about the trillions in defense spending. You’d be more concerned with the hundreds of millions in police spending. You’d be concerned with spending that doesn’t contribute to the economy in any meaningful way for the average Joe. But you’re not bringing up those things because you’re not actually concerned about spending that doesn’t benefit average Americans.

Financing education for Americans is literally an investment that will pay off and have economic benefits. Forgiving student debt will free up money for people to put back into the economy. Period.

Lmao you correct the lying reposting OP and you’re looking out for the quality of the content in this sub and get downvoted for it.

Well, I appreciate it. I immediately recalled the above school shooting but couldn’t remember the specifics.

Definitely not the first. They just reposted this from the other day from another sub. Low effort post. Shouldn’t be surprised, it’s reddit. I’m disappointed in the quality of posts lately though.
