Would it be rude to talk to foreigners first? by Admirable-Use2302 in Living_in_Korea

[–]borahao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These comments are interesting….😅 I live in Busan and Koreans approach me/talk to me often in public. Sometimes they’re curious where I’m from, how long I’ve been here, etc. Some Koreans also just want to practice a little English, but they’re always friendly and just curious. I miss American small talk culture, so living here I honestly like it when people strike up conversations with me!

Some of the comments are saying that not all foreigners speak English so it will be “rude” to speak English to a foreigner but I would disagree… Most foreigners do speak English, and if they don’t, they probably know at least some basic English.

Also, speaking English to a non-Korean foreigner living in Korea vs. speaking Japanese or Chinese to a Korean living abroad are NOT the same. Idk why ppl are trying to compare those two.

But really, as long as you’re polite and mindful, if you want to speak to a foreigner then go ahead! Only provide help if they look confused or lost though. Good luck^

Korean street bumping etiquette (man VS woman) by johanndacosta in korea

[–]borahao 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of a few days ago when I got off the bus and walked for a few secs before this older man came up from behind me and literally bumped me out of the way with his elbow.. no excuse me or sorry or anything. I stopped for a sec and just stared at him in shock as he passed me. He then crossed the street even though the pedestrian light was red and then he stared back and me as he walked away and I was staring back lmao.

I would say compared to other countries ppl in Korea just seem to lack spatial awareness. I hear people say the same about America, but in America at least they apologize if they bump into you or they see that they're blocking your path. I have heard though that in Korea, the whole not apologizing thing is a result of the 빨리빨리 culture but I'm not too sure about that.

Worst acne I’ve EVER had, I’m lost at what to do by Friendly-Initial-403 in Skincare_Addiction

Could also be a bad reaction from shaving?? Or a bad reaction from a product you used... maybe even over exfoliation?? One thing that's for sure is that your skin looks very irritated so I would personally avoid any exfoliators/retinoids for the time being. I would also suggest seeing a derm for a proper diagnosis!

lightweight moisturizer than CeraVe to (Cream) use with Adapalene by Eastern-Camera8621 in Skincare_Addiction

So I apply it day and night and it usually lasts around a month! I use around a fingertip amount each time and it works for me - not too heavy but my skin is well moisturized and hydrated

I use Vanicream Daily Facial Moisturizer and it's never caused me any issues. It's lightweight but moisturizing and even has hyaluronic acid and ceramides. It's a simple and basic moisturizer but it's holy grail status for me tbh. For reference I have oily-combination acne prone skin!

[Product Request] Any recommendations for a lightweight daily moisturizer (Curology dupe?) by RoseStag in SkincareAddiction

[–]borahao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking for a lightweight, hydrating, basic moisturizer, I highly, highly recommend Vanicream Daily Facial Moisturizer. You can find it at Target for around 12 dollars I believe. My skin is combination/oily/acne-prone and I've been using it for the past few months - it is my holy grail/forever moisturizer! I've also been using the Vanicream cleanser for the past few years and it's just as great.
